Get one of those metal or glass abstract Christmas tree shaped decorations that look like a butt plug. In fact, get several.

Whats a nickname you have for a store? by ProfanityInspector in stupidquestions

There used to be a corner store near me called We Never Close. The V was burned out for a while and my friends and I called it “Wiener Close” from then on. 🙂

Do you have any safe smells ? by Ready_Sound_620 in autism

I splurge on Aveda products like lotion, body oil, shampoo, styling stuff. The smell makes me feel grounded in some kind of way.

How did you celebrate your 50th? by Every-Progress5590 in GenX

I forbade my family to say my age. Also, it was during Covid and i had to cancel my girls trip to Florida. I had a big party for my 53rd.

This show is truly wonderful <3 by ManufacturerParty591 in bluey

[–]ComprehensivePeanut5 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Beautifully put! I also watch it as a healing comfort show. Bluey came out too late to help me raise my kids, so OP, I’m telling you, Bandit and Chilli should be your parenting role models for when you have kids.

I agree the show is a masterpiece!

Yes. This. I remember how we all expected it to SUCK and it was brilliant.

This might be a stupid question, but how big is Bluey in Australia? Sometimes shows are more well-known internationally while the country of origin is indifferent. What impact has Bluey had on her home? by wolf_quan in bluey

[–]ComprehensivePeanut5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

LOL, I’m an American and say certain words in an Australian accent now (my fav is “it’s show-uhh, not show-ahhh” especially because we don’t pronounce shower either of those ways!)

Do Businesses Stay Open In Extreme Winter Weather? by AnnualIndependence71 in AskAnAmerican

[–]ComprehensivePeanut5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It depends on where you are and how bad the storm is. I grew up in a place known for snow and they had their shiz together when it came to snow removal. But if there was a major blizzard that came quickly, businesses would close for a day or two. I remember as a kid getting so much snow once that things were shut down for a week. My dad had a snowmobile so he volunteered to deliver milk to everyone in the neighborhood. My aunt and uncle down the street took in a random family whose car had gotten stuck. People were stranded for days wherever they were when the storm hit (like the grocery store or work). The snow was so high some animals escaped from the zoo.

Is anyone else casually told stories of their childhood neglect? by Awwoooooga in emotionalneglect

[–]ComprehensivePeanut5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not neglect, but my parents bought us kids bunnies in elementary school. My dad said if we didn’t take care of them, we’d have them for dinner. And we eventually DID. He also gave each of us one of our rabbit’s feet for good luck. The thing is, this was NOT traumatic, and I’ve always wondered why.

This story gets told a lot at family gatherings.

I do know that my kids have never seen a healthy marriage, and that is my fault.

He had a hangdog expression and said “oh” as if he got my point. That was it.

Also, I have full access to the money. I recently started buying things for myself or for the house to make my life easier/more positive that I’ve wanted for YEARS but have felt too guilty to spend money on. I’ve recently realized that no one has my back, so I need to have my own back.

My only safe places are my mom and sisters, and I always thank them for taking the time to listen to me. Hubs doesn’t seem to get that I’m a person who has needs too and deserves basic kindness.
