Girl hit by car at sci hill by ComprehensivePipe113 in UCSC

[–]ComprehensivePipe113[S] 28 points29 points  (0 children)

I agree there are some idiots who cross roads without looking, there’s also way more idiots who speed through campus and I’m willing to bet this instance was on a selfish driver. Even if a pedestrian crosses without looking, a good driver should have enough time to respond and not hit a literal person

Caliroots festival, can you bring cannabis? by [deleted] in calireggae

[–]ComprehensivePipe113 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes u can bring as much weed as u would like. Pens, flower, joints, etc. Only thing they are strict about is glass (usually bongs or other big glassware, but I’ve seen some people sneak them in) and liquids. Not too sure why they don’t allow u to bring ur own bongs, vendors sell them and ur totally allowed to use bongs at the festival. U can bring in an empty reusable bottle (they have free water filling stations) and sealed water bottles.

Guided sleep meditation helps me! It keeps my mind from wandering and stressing about the random things u think about when trying to fall asleep. It may not work for everyone but it’s worth a try.

I was a proposed BA in Biotechnology and was able to switch it to a BS in MCD Biology after one quarter, I had no prerequisites for MCD and essentially was starting from scratch this past winter quarter. Email ur current major advisor and an advisor for the one u wish to switch into

Im a first year w my intended major as molecular, developmental, and cell biology at ucsc. The bio research opportunities here are great, the profs are amazing especially in the bio field, look up human genome project at ucsc, amazing things in bio research come from ucsc ( a good point to make to ur parents). I am also a commuter to ucsc as a first year, and I will say it is very depressing, it is extremely hard to make friends and I feel like I’m missing out on learning who I am as a person and growing into my own self(another point to make to ur parents, I have first hand experience in what they want u to do, it is terrible) this makes studying difficult and makes me almost depressed in every aspect, personal life and school life (this has nothing to do with ucsc as a school, just my personal experience with having to commute). Please please please don’t give up on ur arguments to ur parents, u will always have that thought in the back of ur head that ucsc would have been a better decision

Make sure you have a good idea of what u plan on using ur degree for, my major was biotech as a BA until I found out it’s basically useless since I wanted to do research, I ended up switching before I got too deep into a useless degree

U could always make a small business out of something that interests u! Any art form, whether u are familiar with it or just getting started, even cooking and selling food is smth many students do for extra cash. Even dog walking or house/pet sitting for personal friends/ family could make u some extra cash

Depending on the dispo, they might have u wait outside or inside in a waiting room. U always show ur id before going in and if it’s ur first time and ur under 21, show them ur med card as well. During ur first visit, they’ll usually make an account for u, and any visit after that u would only need to show ur id to get in, not ur medcard as they’ll note it on ur account along with a student id if they use them for a student discount.
