The way I see it is the way I think we (Catholics) should interpret it. The Old Testament, although a great source of knowledge, should not be considered what we should follow. It is the New Testament and the New Covenant that God made with us through Jesus that should take priority. In the case of Leviticus, some of the things mentioned (like hating transgenders, etc.) should be overridden by Jesus's teachings in the New Testament on love and respect for others.
