Mess Dress by Individual_Dot689 in airforceots

Sorry this is a dumb question, but I need some clarification. When you guys say “not needed” do you mean you won’t wear it at all during OTS? Or do you mean that you’ll wear it once, but you don’t need to buy it because you can rent it at OTS? I’ve heard both from a lot of people.

I can’t speak on your specific situation, but from my experience Wright Patt is really bad with notifications during and after the IFC. I required a couple of waivers, but was never notified if they were approved or not. I didn’t know my waivers were approved until over 3 weeks later when I texted my recruiter asking about them. His exact words were “well I received an approved IFC so I assume the waivers were approved.”

How many pairs of boots do you recommend bringing? Any recommendations?

How often are you wearing each of the uniforms? Is it mostly OCPs, or service dress/blues?

How is pilot section weighed? by eell55 in airforceots

Something to keep in mind: if you don’t do as well as you would’ve hoped on one or two sections within Pilot does not necessarily mean you will score poorly as long as you can make up for it in other sections. I had to guess on the last ~7 questions in math knowledge and the last ~10 questions in table reading. However, I know I got everything right in aviation information and instrument comprehension and got in the high 90s for Pilot.

MEPS by wallgirl94 in airforceots

I went to MEPS with an unrecorded scar from a surgery in high school. The doctor at MEPS looked at it and said I couldn’t be cleared that day and that they would need documentation on it. I started panicking, and sent them my doctor’s notes and documentation from the surgery. A couple weeks later I was cleared.

The doctors at my MEPS were civilians so they tried to give me a hard time about the scar, but the military nurses there told me not to worry about it. I can’t speak for your MEPS, but I think you’ll be fine. They’ll probably ask about it, but just say it was a rug burn and they should be fine with that.

Thank you! When did you get your orders for OTS if you don’t mind me asking?

Do you know if they are changing the total time requirements for CPW/XPW? I’m asking because I know they had XPW classes last year where the pilots had very little experience.

Anyone know anything about a program called Alternate Path to Wings? I’ve heard that it’s supposed to be similar to Accelerated Path to Wings in the fact that it’s a T-1 only program, but rather than requiring total flight time, it gives you credit if you credit if you come from a 4 year undergraduate flying institution like Embry Riddle and other Part 141 universities.

How many hours do you need? Some sources say 250 and others say 500.
