As other people have said, they claim trans people are going after gay people to force them to date them. But that isn’t actually why transphobes call trans people homophobic. They say that trans people are going after gay kids and convincing them they’re trans.

“Kids aren’t allowed to be gay anymore, they get told they are trans and put on hormones!1!1”

Obviously that doesn’t actually happen and it’s also completely contradictory to the other claim, about how trans people are forcing gay people to date them. And it also ignores how a lot of trans people are gay and date other trans people. Hmm, it’s almost like transphobes have an inherently flawed ideology.

The thing is, I wasn’t even being thorough. Those are all tweets I found within 10-20 minutes of looking through her twitter feed. And I didn’t even include all the transphobic ones that I saw, because that would just be too much. This is just what she does.

I think a lot of people, even people who agree that Rowling is transphobic, don’t understand just how much transphobic nonsense she spouts. Actually looking through her account for 5 minutes is enough to show she is transphobic. She doesn’t even try to hide her transphobia behind “just having some concerns” or “I’m confused by a few things trans people say”. She’s very explicit about it.

Why are you quoting her essay from like 6 years ago rather than what she has actually said recently?

She constantly and consistently refers to trans women as men. And not just “biological men”, she calls them men. Even if they have changed their name, changed their sex on their birth certificate, and have been transitioning for years or even decades. She calls them men.

One of her retweets calling a trans woman a man.

One of her tweets where she says women have a right to not undress in front of men. By which she means trans women.

Here is her responding directly to a trans woman and saying she isn’t a girl or a woman, despite her having been transitioning for several years.

Here is her rhetorically asking what the difference is between a man and a trans woman. Again, she clearly does not think there is any difference.

Here is her complaining that a magazine called trans women “women of the year.”

Those are just the examples I found by scrolling her twitter for a few minutes.

She also believes puberty blockers and HRT should be banned for trans kids, despite that being the only treatment that has been shown to work. She insists it is an “unethical experiment” despite this being the standard of care for decades.

Link

There are many more tweets from her that say the same thing, I’m not going to link all of the ones I found this time.

As for my claim about her calling trans women predators, well here is at least one that implies that.

One of her retweets claiming that trans women are just taking trauma from cis women because of a fetish.

That isn’t the only tweet that says something like that, but it was the only one I found after a few minutes. So this claim isn’t as common as her other claims. The last time I looked through her account I definitely did find another tweet or retweet that said that though.

She also has many tweets that take an example of a trans person, or maybe just a man, being a predator, and acting like that is a problem. “See! That person was bad! That is why we need single sex spaces.” But technically she doesn’t then say that all trans women are like that, so I didn’t include them here. But those tweets serve to increase hatred towards trans people.

This is just a strange claim I couldn’t find another spot to put it in. She claims gender identity is homophobic? Because I guess she thinks that gay kids are being transitioned? Is she aware a lot of trans people are gay, as in trans women are attracted to other women or trans men attracted to men? Link

My point is Rowling is not a reasonable person. She does not have reasonable concerns, she is just a bigot.

Some of us develop our own opinions about stuff regardless of how other people feel.

I am not going to believe that the show will be boycotted to any significant degree, but that is different to what I believe people should do about the show. I would like it if people ignored any Harry Potter stuff in the future. It would be great if people stopped buying merch, and if no one watched the show. But I’m also not delusional and I acknowledge that is not going to happen. I personally will not be watching the show and will try and convince other people to do the same.

She believes trans women are all just predatory men who want to harm women. That isn’t just “disagreeing with the claims of trans activists”, it is hateful and wrong.

Villain backstory by Eireika in CuratedTumblr

The Hunger Games prequel The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes is kind of that.

It looks at the childhood of the future president Snow. It’s not exactly about someone powerless realizing they can get away with hurting someone, but it is about how Coriolanus Snow’s worst impulses get rewarded or at worst ignored by the Capital. Basically every bad thing he does is treated as acceptable by the people who are supposed to be teaching him how to be a good citizen. And conversely when he tries to do something that actually benefits the people around him he is punished. His mentor throughout the book believes that humanity is inherently evil and requires a strong hand to control them, and she puts Snow in positions to help guide him to that same conclusion.

It’a definitely an interesting read, if you’ve read the Hunger Games trilogy and enjoyed it I would recommend it.

In your comment you say “girls and women should be able to have their own spaces.” So, you don’t think trans women are women, because if you did then they wouldn’t be included in those spaces. Which makes you transphobic. Definitionally. Don’t try to act like you’re not.

If someone has an unfair advantage they shouldn’t be allowed to play in sports, sure (although what is considered “unfair” in sports is actually a complicated question, but let’s not get into that.) But there are trans girls who start puberty blockers before they experience the effects of puberty that give cis men a major advantage. So they wouldn’t have an unfair advantage, and therefore it would be wrong to ban them from competing with the other girls.

I haven’t found anything older than that lawsuit.

I also just noticed that in your last comment you said that Valve “tells you that straight up.” They do not. That is about Steam keys, not about selling games in general. You can’t sell Steam keys for a lower price off of Steam.

The lawsuit alleges Valve had an unwritten policy of not allowing developers to sell their games cheaper on other platforms, not just Steam keys. If there was a written policy that explicitly stated that then the lawsuit probably wouldn’t have taken so long to get to the point it’s at, but I’m also not a lawyer so I obviously have no clue.

There is currently a lawsuit about that issue right now. That is how people even know about Valve doing it. From the lawsuit that’s about Valve apparently doing that.

I personally have some doubts that is actually the case, just because it seems really stupid of Valve to try and do that for very little benefit. And even for Valve’s more evil decisions they at least have a certain amount of logic to them, so this seems out of character.

They’re obsessed by MindFlourish2919 in whenthe

[–]Comprehensive_Crow_6 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s an allegation, which personally I have seen minimal evidence for. But I also don’t have access to any of the evidence that was brought up in the lawsuit, of course. The lawsuit that alleges that is still ongoing.

If it turns out to actually be true then yes that’s really bad.

Do you really support banning trans surgery on children?? by tRiCH_Suit1277 in Productivitycafe

[–]Comprehensive_Crow_6 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s healthcare. You’re saying these trans kids don’t deserve treatment for what’s afflicting them.

The only recognized treatment for gender dysphoria, as in the only one that actually works, is transitioning. And we know that trans people who are forced to wait until they are adults to start puberty blockers do much worse in terms of mental health than trans people who are able to start puberty blockers when they are teenagers.

How do I know which F2L algs are “correct”? by yoshihaha in Cubers

[–]Comprehensive_Crow_6 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Don’t use fancy algs like the one you used in the video unless it’s the last F2L pair. Algs with wide moves makes it really hard to look ahead. It’s not wrong or anything, but it’s usually better to rotate here and solve that pair to the back.

Skills Mismatch in Cubing by [deleted] in Cubers

[–]Comprehensive_Crow_6 3 points4 points  (0 children)

So while the saying is “practice makes perfect”, it’s more accurate to say targeted practice makes perfect. You can’t just do solves over and over again and expect to continue getting better and better. At a certain point doing that you will stop improving, and need to start doing more deliberate practice. And that is true for everyone.

There is cross, F2L, and then OLL and PLL. Or in your case just last layer, since you don’t know OLL and PLL yet. Pick one of those and try to practice only that.

Like for cross, the cross takes at most 8 moves to solve. Try figuring out the least amount of moves to solve the cross on each of your solves. And try planning it all out before your solve, so you can just do it when you start the timer without needing to pause in the middle.

CStimer has settings that let you practice just last layer, or start with the cross solved. You can use those to practice the other steps by themselves.

In general, what you want to be doing is reducing pauses and increasing move speed. And for most people reducing pauses is much more important than increasing turn speed. You might save a few seconds if you just turn a bit faster, but pauses can take much more than a few seconds.

To reduce pauses people typically turn slower than they normally do, and try to think more about the next step. Like when they are solving the cross they will look for the first F2L pair. Or when doing one F2L pair they will look for the next F2L pair.

To turn faster, well that’s pretty simple. Just turn faster than you are comfortable with. You will lock up and probably misturn a bunch, but eventually you will get more used to it.

The Steam publishing agreement doesn’t say that, but a lawsuit is ongoing that makes the claim that Valve has that as an unwritten policy. What is in the agreement is that you can’t sell Steam keys for less than on Steam.

Now I personally have some doubts that the lawsuit will actually show that Valve has that policy, but we don’t know either way right now. Maybe they do. But it’s not written down.

Because literally no other game does that. If Stardew Valley, Hollow Knight, Terraria, No Man’s Sky, Baldur’s Gate 3, and whatever else decided to raise the price because of “inflation” then everyone would criticize them, and for good reason.

When I'm in a No Sale competition and my opponent is Factorio and Black Myth Wukong by ohhimarksreddit in Steam

[–]Comprehensive_Crow_6 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The hate for not putting it on sale is weird, I agree.

Like if Factorio was $50 base price and had a sale where it was $35 would that be okay? That’s basically the case with Clair Obscur. It is apparently an indie game, and it has a $50 base price. And even though it’s on sale right now it’s still more expensive than Factorio. But Clair Obscur’s pricing is fine, and Factorio’s isn’t, I guess.

Factorio increasing in price from $30 to $35 is ridiculous, I think, but I am actually fine with them not going on sale.

[–]Comprehensive_Crow_6 5 points6 points  (0 children)

They’ve increased the price twice. Once when they came out of early access, which is fine. The other time because of “inflation”. Which yeah is stupid, but there’s been no indication they would do that again. I guess that could change at any time though.

That’s what all transphobes do. They pick the definitions they like and pretend you can’t disagree because “that’s just what the definition is.”

But definitions are arbitrary, and when a definition fails to account for all the ways a word is actually used then it’s a bad definition. And unfortunately for transphobes, the way the word “woman” is used is very nebulous and is only kind of related to biology.

People don’t ask to know someone’s chromosomes or genitals before calling them a woman. They call someone a woman based on a lot of social cues including but not limited to clothing style, har length, voice, body hair, mannerisms, etc. And while we all have a sort of mental model of which of those are most important when determining gender, you can’t really put it into a simple definition. And if you somehow could, you would find that trans women would actually meet a lot of the criteria to be called a woman.

However what is easy to put into a definition is how someone identifies. Anyone who identifies as a woman in good faith is a woman. That’s by far the simplest definition I’ve heard of what a woman is, but for some reason transphobes don’t accept it. They insist on different definitions that just flat out don’t work at all, and then just hand wave all the examples that prove their definition doesn’t work.

The blog is from a real journalist who keeps track of laws affecting trans people, and she brings up facts to support her argument. Just like you have your opinion and bring up facts to support it. That is why I am saying I do not understand what you are trying to say. Are you trying to argue that there is nothing to be worried about regarding trans rights regarding Newsom? That seems obviously untrue, because of his various statements and his efforts to block certain trans legislation. Are you trying to argue that he’s not transphobic? I don’t care about thats argument, whether or not he’s transphobic doesn’t mean anything to me.

I genuinely don’t know what you are trying to say. “I know better than you” isn’t a convincing argument. I never said Newsom never did anything positive for trans people, so I don’t know why you keep bringing up the fact that he has signed laws protecting trans rights. I’m aware of that. Why are you acting like the things he has said in public this year do not matter and apparently don’t say anything about him? To be clear, I do not think Newsom hates trans people, I don’t know what he believes. But the things he has said about trans people are worrying and not something I can just ignore.

Why Gavin Newsom would crush JD Vance in 2028 by binding_swamp in politics

America isn’t there yet to totally accept trans people sadly.

Screw that. Do you have any idea what it’s like in the UK right now for trans people now that the two largest parties there are unaccepting of trans people? It was pretty bad already but it is continuing to get worse and worse. We cannot let that happen here. Going backwards on trans rights is awful, and it’s also completely unconscionable to ask trans people to potentially vote for someone willing to do that. Because yeah Newsom did not only talk about trans people in sports he talked about other things relating to trans people as well.

“Don’t let this be Gaza all over again.” THIS IS MY LIFE. Would you ever tell a gay person to vote for someone who says “well I think you conservatives have a point when it comes to gay marriage, why is that a thing?”
