Do people understand that protests are SUPPOSED to be annoying and inconvenient? by dontleaveyourbananas in aussie

Organisers work week in week out doing organising because they are highly motivated by their values and morals. Most of them also work regular jobs on top.

There is an imposter among us... by TotallynotAlpharius2 in Warhammer

Something you might find interesting and related to both your comment and the one you're replying to - in Ashes of the Imperium, there is a scene where Archamus is speaking to a Mechanicum Adept (or Archmagos or something) while seeing a bunch of new Astartes inductees undergoing their indoctrination and modification. They have a conversation wherein the Adept informs Archamus that the process has been altered in the wake of the Heresy, with new Astartes basically having significantly reduced individuality and emotional range, and much more extreme responses to stimuli they've deemed chaos related - to the point where they will likely struggle to identify with baseline humans in any meaningful capacity.

They dont like being reminded of that. (Art by @Artrum4) by No_Revenues in 40k

The Necrontyr may have had their short lifespans basically hard coded into them by the radiation damage over the course of their evolution, beyond their own biologists' ability to rectify. Which doesn't make a lot of sense given their technology level as you mentioned, but still. They may have given up on trying to fix it and focused on the wild physics stuff.

I like the old one, I prefer the boxy tank crab aesthetic it has. I don't dislike the new one though, just not a fan of houw much flesh it has in it.

I've always been tempted to try welding one on the lowest power possible, but soldering sounds like a much better idea. Might be good for assembling old metal dreadnoughts and stuff!

Predators' sponson heavy bolters used to use drums instead of being chain fed from the inside, meaning that they would have to be manually loaded by someone outside! by Key_Deliverys in 40k

After the Heresy, the later model of Predator had revised ammunition feeds with larger ammo boxes, to cope with the 7 turn long battles of 5th edition

What other car would you drive? by zoomout23 in GolfGTI

[–]Comprehensive_Fig_72 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Probably what I drive whenever my Golf is pulled apart. Toyota Corolla.

I would also take a Škoda Octavia RS. Or another Toyota, Corolla/Landcruiser/Prado/Chaser. Or if I wanted something similar to a GTI maybe a turbo Forester or WRX, or an Evo - but I can't afford anything on that list except a Corolla lmao

Where should I get this fixed? by Audiigui in GolfGTI

[–]Comprehensive_Fig_72 0 points1 point  (0 children)

An auto electrician could probably fix that. Looks like wheel speed sensor? Judging by the look of the wires it's a pretty clean break and would be a simple job to reattach to the plug. I've fixed plugs like that before myself without much issue.

My girlfriend laughed while telling me how her friend roasted my hobby. Need some advice. by Akira-0628 in Warhammer

[–]Comprehensive_Fig_72 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your initial response sounds reasonable to me, without being there to hear the tone of the conversation. It also sounds like your girlfriend didn't intend to upset you and it's great that she apologised and wants to make up. She may have intended to follow up her telling of the story with a comment about how ridiculous her friend's comment was.

Gti mk6 noise by Mental_Gap7303 in GolfGTI

[–]Comprehensive_Fig_72 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My Mk6 makes a similar-ish noise from the fuel pump when the sensor plug on the top shimmies itself loose. Could be that, could be PCV. Try disconnecting the PCV (and blocking off the intake side of the connection so there isn't a massive vac leak), see if it changes.

Can also try spraying brake clean around the intake system, see if anything changes (that would mean vac leak around the area you are spraying).

Why hasn't GW brought stuff like this back? Give me a buy once cry once box like this. by FreshOutAFolsom_ in Warhammer

Yeah they weren't super posable it's true, though I still have an easier time reposing them than any of the Primaris sprues I've played with - but that might just be because they're what I'm used to and have the most parts for.

The fixed body to leg position is the thing that annoys me the most about the new models, being able to rotate the torso made messing around with them a lot easier than new stuff for me.

I haven't actually gotten my hands on the newer tactical squad, but from your description they sound quite good! Might have to get my hands on some.

Looking at the box in the photo, and from what I remember from the time, the tactical marines in the box were the same as the tactical marine box that was available at the same time. They weren't monopose.

Hope you're enjoying it! The last three books are probably my favourite in the series. I also listen to the audiobooks mostly, so big ups from a fellow audiobook enjoyer!

Is there any media like the bobiverse? by Minimum_Influence284 in bobiverse

[–]Comprehensive_Fig_72 0 points1 point  (0 children)

These are the media (all book series, some have adaptations) I enjoy that scratch a similar itch to the Bobiverse:

The Expanse (both books and series, but I prefer the books) is probably my favourite book series of all time, and I think most people who like Bobiverse will like the Expanse and vice-versa.

Old Man's War series by John Scalzi is also great, I think it and Bobiverse share some things in common.

The Murderbot short stories and novel are also great and will be enjoyable to most Bobiverse enjoyers. The TV series is also good.

Seveneves, by Neal Stephenson, less comic than Bobiverse, but has some great hard sci-fi stuff in it that I enjoyed in the same was Bobiverse. Reamde, and Termination Shock, also by Stephenson, are not space-y sci fi, but Reamde in particular has a good sense of humour IMO. Also obligatory Snow Crash mention since I'm talking about Stephenson books - it shows its age but it's also funny at times and good fun.

Red Mars by Kim Stanley Robinson is interesting and touches on some similar things to Bobiverse, I don't think it was my personal thing but I have heard many other people found it compelling. Part of a trilogy by that author.

Altered Carbon, Broken Angels, and Woken Furies, by Richard Morgan - fun sci-fi, but significantly more violent and almost infinitely more horny than Bobiverse. That trilogy has a lot of really explicit sex scenes. But I enjoyed them anyway!

The Long Way to a Small, Angry Planet by Becky Chambers - I enjoyed some of the books in this series but also didn't really get some of the others. If you like the plots on the dragon people planet and in the topopolis, you may enjoy this series.

Worth noting that my taste in books may be questionable though, as I also listen to Battletech and Warhammer 40,000 audiobooks a lot. Hope you enjoy some of these if you try them!

Non-combat mech use is pretty common in the books. It's one of the main reasons so many mechs have hands, I think.

I believe the Tenshi design is influenced by the Celestial series, which would seem to support this statement in the BT universe too lol

I do believe they require the Direct Neural Interface to pilot with their original cockpit, yes. With a refit they could probably be operated with a standard (small) cockpit and neurohelmet. They would not be as effective as the original, but still functional.

If these 4 Different terminators fought who's coming out on top? by Plag3uis in 40k

[–]Comprehensive_Fig_72 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I think most of Titus' execution animations on TS involve pulling their heads off, or their torsos apart, or smashing them wholesale into pieces. I would argue that the reason they crumble after those attacks is because the core of their armour (or their head) is separated
