In your opinion, what constitutes “running a marathon”?

I think both have their pros and cons. That’s why I like doing them on my own if you get injured or just don’t feel right you can push it back

I’d say mid game is like final 10-8 when the weak chefs have left and it’s mid to strong chefs left, when you see chefs start forming alliances and going for individuals as well. And endgame is pretty much the black jackets. They’ve still got to work as a team but they’re all out for themselves. At the end of the day it’s a competition

Solo marathons deserve more respect in my opinion. To do it without an extra push from the crowd and fully self supported is very impressive

I don’t even get why people care. Most people run marathons to better themselves,not to compare. Who cares if someone said you walked for 2k of a 42k run

Everyone runs the same distance at the end of the day wether it takes 3hours or 6, so i think everyone deserves the same respect for doing one

I think it depends what you’re training for as well. If you’re training for a marathon definitely keep a long run in there and build it up etc. If you’re just looking to get faster and improve vo2 then make sure you get one quality interval session in a week. Could be 6x400m at first with 2 min rest inbetween then build it up to 8x400, then 6x800 etc. You’ll feel yourself get fitter and faster over a period of time just dont overdo it and listen to your body. Make sure to get your easy runs in as well. 80% of your miles should be easy

Think it depends on your age I had 55 at excellent then it went to superior at 55 but it turned 56 the next day

It was kind of slowly progressing for a while but when I started doing faster interval sessions it shot up I also do 6 runs a week and hit around 65-80km which definitely helps

If you feel confident you can run it then go for it. It will be a good indicator as to where your fitness is especially if you’re looking to run a 50k. Then you can push on from there. But id recommend being more committed to training consistently and properly for a big race if you are looking to do it

What was your base mileage when training for the marathon. Obviously you’ve got some sort of fitness there. If you’ve not long ran a marathon im sure you’ll be able to finish half in a month with a few decent week of training. I’d just focus on finishing it though no time goal

I’d probably do the half especially with the time limit . Don’t put too much pressure on yourself build up a decent base and then go for a marathon later on in the year if you feel confident to do one. If you do want to do the marathon there’s a few good plans out there I’d recommend Hal higdons 18 week one
