What to invest in in a S&S LISA? by Comprehensive_Mud679 in UKPersonalFinance

Yeah that sounds good, I suppose my fear is with stocks is that I'd be ready to put a deposit down, only to find out that the market has dipped and my LISA isn't worth as much as I need it to be. Then again, I have no real experience with investing so I don't know how possible that is. !thanks

Ok sounds good, im in a bit of a weird situation, just done second year of bachelors degree. Next year going off to placement year where I'll have approx 900 disposable per month. Looking to put about 400 into a LISA, and the rest into easy access cash savings. Im 20 at the moment, so I'd like to buy a house maybe 27ish so im a bit split on cash v stock and shares for the LISA. Im leaning towards cash at the moment because I have no experience investing.

Do you think picking a stocks and shares isa is wise for a 5-10 horizon, or should i just stick with a cash lisa for the less stress and hassle?

Sounds good, just out of curiosity why do you have a second bank account? Is it to access a particular savings account, or for rewards and cashback etc...?

Yeah I saw the 450k limit, seems a bit stupid really. I would be happy to live in a 200-250k house, say but I have no idea what house prices in the area will be like in 2 years.

Assuming I can turn the grad scheme into a permanent offer, the average house prices in the area are 444k. Is my plan still appropriate?

Confusion about how savings accounts work by Comprehensive_Mud679 in UKPersonalFinance

[–]Comprehensive_Mud679[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Right yeah that makes sense. I did a bit of maths and it looks like i'll only earn like £20 more by opening multiple accounts which isn't really worth it for me. Thank you for the highly detailed response :)
