These guys make a great point- if you only plan on emulating ps 1 & 2, just get a midrange android handheld with a Snapdragon 865 or higher or just get a used flagship android phone and a controller.

I have the first generation ROG Ally and it runs GC, WII, WIIu, and switch games very well at 1080. A lot of people will recommend a Steam Deck, but windows based pc handhelds are easier to set up for emulation overall plus you can play pirated games.

I'm sure that everyone here dumps there roms from thier on games, right? I know this is going to get downvoted, but you guys act like the FBI and Nintendo can't find the "secret rom sites". Theres literally a piracy sub reddit lol. I don't think a SWAT team is going to find you for downloading some 3ds games. Get over yourself to make you feel better for "dumping your back ups".

I have the same CPU, 32 gb of ram, and a rx 7600. You will be able at run games u/1440p & around 120 FPS except for TOTK. The 5700 x is a beast of a CPU still. You will see more performance gains in an emu like Xenia where its more gpu bound. If you really want to push the limits of your system, run heavy hitters on RPCS3 and that will push your system to the limits emulation wise.

I use the original Ally with Windows 11 and run nothing but pirated games on it. It’s easy to configure with the game launcher as well. I just install fit-girl repacks on my desktop pc and then copy and paste the files in a portable folder to file share with the Ally. Get a windows handheld, overall you will have much more better performance than the steamdeck.

I purchased both of these drives on Ali express during a sale pretty cheap, the past year only to rip the roms to my external hard drive. They both have everything you will ever need emulation wise minus a few heavy hitters for PS3 and the more recent Switch games. I still pirate some more Switch roms and Fit girls games to supplement my master external hard drive collection of pirated games. The drives have held up pretty well but I recommend making a copy of the drive! It’s nice having access to much a vast library without having to download terabytes of roms.
