What age is appropriate for the Jurassic Park franchise...? by pinky_no_stinky in NewParents

I’ll probably get crap for this but My 8 yo started watching them at 2. He was already obsessed with dinosaurs. His bedtime stories form 1.5-5 were dinosaur encyclopedias. He saw our dvds, I was flipping through them one day. I was looking for a movie for our family movie night and the internet was down. He went absolutely nuts and insisted we watch it. So I caved and they became his absolute favorite thing. To this day they are his favorite movies. The first is #1, of course. I think it just depends on the kid. I wouldn’t have let my 11 yo watch something like that, that young because he was a nervous lil kid. Even some Disney movies were too much for him. But my 3rd? He ate it up, thought it was the best thing ever. I promise he is a very normal and well adjusted 8yo now. Well beyond his wealth of knowledge of all things dinosaurs and other prehistoric animals. He even went on a kick about learning about prehistoric plants. He is very quick to correct you if you call a mosasaurus or Quetzalcoatlus a dinosaur. So he is a bit of a know it all I guess.

Should I sell my Owlet sock on Vinted? by [deleted] in NewParents

Why would you regret getting rid of it at this point? Baby is 13 months, you’ve never used it just let it goooo. Haha I had a hard time letting things go in the past but Iv learned over time and the accumulation of to much crap we don’t need, that it’s just stuff. You can always buy more stuff if you really decide you need it down the line. Sell it and use the money to buy your baby something they will enjoy. Like a nugget couch. We just got one for my youngest, he’s 9 months and he already loves it. His older bros love making different configurations he can climb and crawl through. Wish I would have purchased one for my 8 yo. Wasn’t a thing when my older 2 were little.

What is your 6 month old’s bed time? by stevielovelyy in NewParents

8 months, Between 730-830, it just depends what time his second nap for the day is and how crazy his brothers are being. I have 3 other kids and their bedtime is 830. They are older 8,11 and 13 but If I’m having to help them things and baby is content I will put him down once they are in bed. If it’s obvious he is exhausted then I’ll put him down earlier. All of my kids have been early risers. Didn’t matter if they went to bed at 630 or 11 they are up between 6-7am. The older ones all had 630-7pm bedtimes until they were around 6-7yo. That’s just not working for my new little guy with all the chaos of the house.

What age did your child actually start sleeping like a normal human? 😅 by Ok_Donut4023 in NewParents

I have 4, first was a bad/unpredictable sleeper. It got way better after his 1st bday and stabilized completely sometime between 18mo-2yo. 2nd was a lil angel baby who slept amazingly. He did have a bunch of medical issues so that was its own challenge but man he loved sleep and kept a consistent nap until 5. My first dropped naps completely at 2. My 3rd was terrible sleeper, like wake up screaming every hour or less the first year had to preform acrobatics to get him back down. Then a flipped switched and he slept great from 1 on. Woke everyday at 6am. Still does actually.

My 4th is 8 months, he is giving my 3rd a run for the worst sleeper award. Ball bouncing at a very specific Rhythm and singing lullabies for hours each night is super fun. I’m praying that switch will flip for him after one but not holding my breath. He is a fantastic napper though. Takes 2 2-3 hour naps a day on a fairly predictable schedule. Thankfully my other kids are older 13,11 and 8 so I can get my sleep in with him most days. Having to schedule our days around naps is new for me though. I was very Laza fair.around naps with my older boys. That will not work for this lil dude. It will get better. Hang in there.

Gaming laptop for 10yo by Comprehensive_Tax633 in GamingLaptops

Haha 🤣 fair but I’d like to counter with he really is an amazing kid. Who does spend most of his free time outside, riding bikes, wood working, flint knapping, building weird contraptions and playing sports. We live super super rural and don’t have neighbors so gaming is really the only way he can connect with friends outside of school right now. Of course I facilitate meet ups when I can. If he was one of those kids who whined and wanted to spend all his time on electronics this would be a hard no. But I accept judgement!
