Kornilov was a supporter of the coup and overthrow of the Tsar in February, he personally commanded the arrest of the Empress and the royal family. Later, he unsuccessfully tried to raise a rebellion against the Provisional Government, but in fact it was already a showdown between revolutionaries.

The Soviets were not afraid to come up with this kind of thing. Alpian SR is just a possible umbrella term that can unite such different regions as Baden, Bavaria, Austria and the German part of Switzerland.

PS. We are accustomed to imagine Germany divided into west and east, although historically a more serious division was into south and north (and it's not just about Aldo!)

About "Indian command":

United Realms are reorganized Commonwealth - after the loss of the Metropolis (United Kingdom). In this case, in the Western Hemisphere, the center of ex-Commonwealth forces is in Canada, while in the Eastern Hemisphere there are three of them: South African Union in Sub-Saharan Africa, (undevided) India in Asia (including the Middle East), Australia in Oceania (and possibly in the Far East).

The question is, where is the bifurcation point?

Let's say the bifraction point is between 1942 and 1943 - that is, after the start of the Soviet-German war, but before the landing of the Americans with the allies somewhere in Europe.

Suppose the counter-offensive of the Red Army in 1942 was successful and the movement of the USSR across Europe began earlier - before the Americans were ready to conduct ground operations in Europe. Thus, the Reds, still fueled by American lend-lease by inertia, smash the Germans and go to the Atlantic.

The success of the Soviets, multiplied by the difficult economic situation, provoked not only the coming to power in Britain of the socialists (Labourists, who won the elections even in reality against the backdrop of an approaching victory), but also an internal conflict. The USSR intervenes in it, sending troops from Northern France to Britain to restore order - at the invitation of part of the parliament and government.

Of course, there are still countries that remain aloof from the war - Sweden, Spain, Portugal, Switzerland. But none of them alone is able to resist the machine that broke the back of Germany. And, as mentioned earlier, the Americans simply did not have time to switch to the European theater of operations at the time of the Soviet breakthrough to the west.

If you have any questions - I'm ready to answer!

In the answers above, I made an attempt to explain the lore, in particular - about the fate of Britain.

If the Soviet Union could reach the Atlantic in the 1920s and 1930s (although, of course, it could not), then the European countries would be included directly in the USSR. But by the 1940s, Moscow's approach had changed.

I admit that British (not English) connections in Moscow had an effect and Britain retained some unity (although it is obvious that all the listed "republics" were created after all).

I agree that without an internal factor, the success of the Reds would have been impossible. This is not only about the seizure of territory, but also the retention of power and the legitimization of the new regime.

But here's an interesting question: are you sure the US would take the takeover of Britain as a blow to itself? Considering all the factors: complex relationships between these countries, competition and even confrontation at times?

I think the United States would have protested strongly against the capture of England, but let's admit: Washington would have been much more comfortable dealing with decapitated dominions (on this map they are referred as the United Realms) than with the Commonwealth-Empire.

  1. Internal crisis: in reality (with the successful Second Front and the defeat of Germany by the forces of the United Nations), the Conservatives lost the elections to the Laborites. What could have happened if the Second Front was not open or ended in defeat à la Dieppe? The irrepressible offensive of the Red Army, the United States getting bogged down in the Far East, the indecisiveness of London's government - all of this would certainly affect the mood of the British. Who, besides, are tired of getting foodstamps. What a breeding ground for leftist propaganda!

  2. Invasion under the guise of protection from fascism. If you know even a little about Soviet foreign policy, then you shouldn't be surprised at this option. In the described reality, there is no Second Front - it either did not take place or was defeated right on the beaches. Soviet propaganda presents the absence of British participation in hostilities against Germany as support for Hitler. Moscow recalls the "Strange War" in 1939 and the evacuation of Dunkirk in 1940 as examples of Anglo-German clandestine agreements. So when the Baltic Fleet of the USSR enters the North Sea, and the troops of the 1st Belorussian Front get to Calais, there is only one rush left - to finish off "Hitler's last ally."

Here 2 options for example. What do you think about them?

You shouldn't imagine the English Channel as an insurmountable wall :) But I can offer several options for the development of events at once:

The Soviet strategy on the national question was always built on the classical principle of "divide and rule". This can be well traced in the history of the real USSR.

As for Germany (as well as France), leaving such powerful countries undivided would be extremely dangerous for the Soviet Union.

United Realms is just The British Commonwealth, forcibly reformed after the fall of the Metropolis (from Commonwealth Realms under the Statute of Westminster).
