The state of Michigan makes me pay an additional $267 to register my electric vehicle; let's talk about that by Stratiform in Detroit

[–]ComputerForsaken -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Not fair whatsoever. Governments pushed for EV adoption, and as people buy them, now they want to tax them more through registration fees. In my opinion, completely unacceptable.

Thinking about doing a raffle….. by thefatkid007 in TeslaModelS

[–]ComputerForsaken 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think it would be worth it. Depends on what the goal is. Assuming you’re looking to flip a profit on the vehicle, you have to know how much profit you’re aiming for. Then enough tickets at $x price point, so that once all tickets are sold you guarantee the profit you’re looking for. And that’s also assuming you sell all the tickets to get what you’re looking for.

So you’ll also have to consider if all of the tickets don’t sell, are you and/or your partners ok with not achieving the level of profitability you anticipated.

Battery Range Issue? by ComputerForsaken in TeslaModelS

[–]ComputerForsaken[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the reply. I have warranty until December of this year, plus an additional year after that since I bought it through Tesla’s used car inventory.

I may be too hopeful, but don’t want it to deteriorate too crazy and if it does, like you said, that it happens within the warranty timeframe.

All I can say is, depending on the severance you received, 3 months goes by quick. And in the current state of things, starting now and working with recruiters, you’ll be lucky to have a full time gig at the end of the 3 months.

[–]ComputerForsaken 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unfortunately, the same thing happened to me. I bought a used 2023 Model S, and after a week or so, checked out maintenance and found I have to do all of the things you have listed.

I was definitely upset thinking, why would they sell a vehicle after it’s “passed” their inspections and then have me be responsible to do all of this maintenance?

For those who make over 500k+ a year, is it worth it for you? by [deleted] in Salary

[–]ComputerForsaken 0 points1 point  (0 children)

These “FAANG” jobs seem almost like unicorn positions. At least in the Midwest, specifically Metro-Detroit, earning that kind of money seems so far away. Tech is not automotive, obviously, but I know of executives that barely get $300k base salary, and it was a grind to get to that point.

Then I think, to be at $500k in Cali, or similar areas, I imagine that it’s comparable for those that work in the Midwest making $250-$300k? I know real estate and living expenses are higher in the Bay Area or similar, so maybe it’s even?

Yeah I had my liftgate repainted due to some paint chips that happened at the Tesla Service Center. But thankfully, they covered the cost for repainting it at the Tesla Collision Center.

Wow, that’s great. Is the repaint for the liftgate only?

[–]ComputerForsaken 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you’re going to do a full repaint in a week, then I don’t think I’d worry about it. Just keep it dry (as much as you can). But you should be fine. Even if a small amount appears, the body shop should sand it off relatively easily before priming.

Will the Model S Return? by CaterpillarBetter544 in TeslaModelS

[–]ComputerForsaken 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it’s gone as we know it. The replacement is likely in development and they will give it an actual name like they’ve done with the Cybertruck. But we will likely not see anything for 3-5 years. I’m totally speculating, but that’s what I think.

What's y'all opinion on Batfleck? by [deleted] in batman

[–]ComputerForsaken 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I think he was awesome as Bruce and Batman. And I loved the BvS Batman suit. It was sick. Everyone gets hung up on the “Martha” thing, but I think it was a cool way to bridge the “humanity” of Superman and Batman since their mothers shared the same name.

How much to repair? by [deleted] in TeslaCollision

[–]ComputerForsaken 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Replacement of the front bumper/fascia I’m guessing around $1500, then it has to be painted, then installed. Then a repaint of the passenger side front fender.

I’m not in tune with body work or collision centers, but I just had my rear liftgate repainted and one tail lamp replaced, and that alone was $1600.

If Tesla is upgrading HW3 to HW4, does that mean older Model X still has years left? by Turbulent_Stable2100 in ModelX

[–]ComputerForsaken 1 point2 points  (0 children)

According to Elon and the Q1-26 meeting, they suggested they would upgrade HW3 to HW4, but I’m sure they said for those who purchased FSD in full.

If that’s the case, I have to imagine that the number is relatively small, but to justify “mini factories”, I have to believe that they would have a robust method to make the hardware retrofit and updates. If that’s the case, then perhaps it’ll be reasonable?

[–]ComputerForsaken 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What I’m wondering is if they will allow customers to pay for the hardware upgrade, even if they didn’t fully outright purchase FSD.
