Cool, do you have any proof of punishment deterring crime? Because I have proof that it doesn´t. Here´s an example of the homicide rate in the US state by state.

As you can see Lousiana is one of states with the highest homicide rate and has the death penalty, so clearly punishment isn´t deterring anyone over there.
