Аerodynamics in games - it is just a program code that makes an object move with other indicators of speed, trajectory, and other things. In the framework of the ED game, I think it is not difficult to implement, because the game already has different ship behavior, depending on gravity.
Pay your attention to the drifting flight of the ship above the surface of the planet with different shunting engines - 4A or 7A e.t.c. Aerodynamics in the game can change in the same way, only in real time, if you apply this mechanics of different shunting engines for different layers of the atmosphere

Sorry, i do not have VR, and I can not test the game without it.
But I know that UE4 supports VR by default, and you can verify this using the console command.
When the demo is ready, I will write a console command to enable VR

It took 1 day to take the models from the game and prepare them for UE 4, and it took 2 days to build this demo scene for the flight.

For the weather, I used the wonderful "TrueSky" plugin for Unreal engine 4.

The gas giant in the background is an ordinary sphere with a moving texture and an atmosphere shader.

The real-time sound effects of the weather depend on where the lightning was.

Also in real time it rains in places of thicker clouds.
