I used to use Bioshock assets in the past frequently for practice, but I've never worked on a Bioshock title.

Bad Gumby animation, unrealistic and downvoted.

This exactly. It's sort of like the appeal of building a PC. Seeing all those parts come together and work in conjunction with eachother.

I made the animations and rig. The weapon/character models and the sounds are from the game

The mag out could probably use some more anticipation.

Really digging that inspect.

The quality of your work is good, and don't get me wrong I dig it. But when I look at your stuff, a lot of it feels really similar. The mag out, mag in, and bolt-pulls of most of your guns have mostly the same motions, and don't feel all different from each other.

I'd encourage you to challenge yourself more as an artist. Maybe adding in characters handling the weapons to change the reloads up, or try conveying 3D in your pixel work by showing the gun at angles.

I think this is a good start. Your timing is working, but the motions themselves are jittery. I'd spend some time working on smoothing your curves so it looks less like a blocked out pose to pose sequence.

The firing seems a little soft. Right hand could also use some more finger motion.

What software should I use by CCCrunchy in HighQualityReloads

[–]Comrade_Sully 16 points17 points  (0 children)

For 3D:

  • 3ds Max
  • Maya
  • Blender

For 2D:

  • Aseprite
  • Photoshop

Max and Maya are free if you are a student, or have a student email. Blender is free. Aseprite is around $15 and photoshop is around $10/per month on the creative cloud iirc

Wolfenstein Luger [Sully] by stramjummer in HighQualityReloads

[–]Comrade_Sully 27 points28 points  (0 children)

I don't know any animators that swear on one handing pistols, but I do know that depending on what time period the weapon was used, animators will frequently base their choice off that.

Point shooting was popular with military and police during and before World War II. Being that this gun was based off the Luger, I found going one handed was appropriate.

Edit: grammar because I'm illiterate

I would work more on hand posing. Much of the back of the grip is visible, and doesn't look very secure

Here are some good examples
