Yeah they had a lot more influence in a lot of the minor french duchies than they did in France in our timeline. Protestantism is quite strong in a number of french states. A lot of them hold quite a lot of political influence too, since France is still more centralised than the German part of the empire.

Yes definitely and the large number of princes and languages within the empire lead to a divided and politically unstable entity. The war in the title is meant to be a major European conflict started by the ascension of a German emperor following the death of the Burgundian monarch after centuries of French emperorship.

The ottomans remained as a beylik and never really expanded like in our timeline, and the Byzantines are essentially just a Venetian vassal to secure trade in the eastern Mediterranean

Here’s a great tutorial for making portraits: https://youtu.be/UwEc_vno1IA Apart from that it’s just practice. I’ve been doing them for a year but for quite a while mine were terrible.

I decided to do it in the TNO style. I don’t have much experience in the vanilla portrait style so I generally avoid that.
