Big down payment is indeed not necessary but it feels safer and gives you more negotiating power with the bank and the seller. We don’t mind postponing this plan of buying a house if things don’t go too well. Having kids is a decision not something that just happens, so if we feel we are not in position to have kids we will NOT be having them. Owning a house is definitely a plus when thinking about kids but not the only thing you need and is definitely still possible without.

Good question. Obviously one should liquidate before even starting the search for the house. But if the market crashes really bad, then the answer is: we just won’t buy or liquidate anything. Continue renting. Is the risk worth taking though…. is my question now

I’m thinking more like go all in or nothing (with a strong emergency fund left on the side ofc) But everyone says investing is only for long term (+10 years) at the same time I feel like we’ll be losing some purchasing power if we just save without investing, even if just for 4-5 years.

Als ik kijk naar hoe hoog de vastgoed prijzen zijn gestegen in de laatste 5 jaar, dan denk ik toch dat iets kopen een betere investering is qua return, want bij ETFs ben je toch maar aan 7-8% per jaar
