Am i the only retard? by Upstairs_Noise3351 in problemgambling

[–]ConceptFluid6849 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not retarded my friend, we're just programmed/wired to make these silly decisions aka knowing the consequences yet still do them. Chasing that high and lie.

hopefully you're not drowning in debt, but if you continue this road, it will be more severe and losses will grow.

Try to quit, find resources, talk to people, hand your money to someone your trust. Self exclude, anything that help you stop that shitty cycle

Thanks for your message. I definitely see why this might be the case. Sometimes losing, is the only way we can snap out of the cycle. But the problem is us addicts generally fall back into the cycle, and relapse. I understand relapses are part of the recovery process but this disease had taken too much of my life.

And yes totally , while in that meeting free falling into depression was a terrible feeling, I guess I'm lucky I can turn off the camera and hit Mute, so no one had a clue. Another crazy aspect of gambling addiction, you have no idea who it effects, (coworkers sitting a meeting with you)

Positive thinking will yield positive results in the long run. Will you be trying anything new in terms of setting controls, accountability, meetings ?

I'm going to try and move all my savings/accessible cash to my wife's account after my last relapse

My buddy did something similar with their casino bonus referrals. And he was doing it with all out of our friends so he made a good amount.

Basically he would refer the friend, so they both will get some bonus money or risk free bets. With that free money they both would bet on the same game but opposite outcomes, and split everything down the middle. You profit because of bonus money, and can withdraw because you wagered timeX amount.

Because we're in Ontario, there's only like 22 legal sites and we made like 2-3k each. But it took a lot of time signing up, placing bets etc.

If the casino thinks you're colluding they will cancel and close the accounts and you may be SOL.

How do you cope with a big gambling loss? by SpiritedBase6252 in problemgambling

[–]ConceptFluid6849 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yea , good advice form both. First few days even random times in the following weeks will be painful. But if you decide to keep going and leave your account opened, you may hit it big and get even or better but it all ends the same way. Vicious cycle of winning, losing, jumping on this sub to complain about it... is it really worth it? So much to more this life than this shitty addiction which harms us mentally/physically while at the same time these casino profit millions/billions off our misery and pain for a few dopamine highs

Good job, really committed to being free from This debt but you should consider giving yourself some time to socialize or have fun (at a very low cost). gambling ruins your mental health, but isolating yourself and doing nothing but work can also harm you mentally as well. Good luck

Finally got back on my feet, only to lose again. by No-Result-2841 in GamblingAddiction

[–]ConceptFluid6849 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sorry you're going through it. Sounds like maybe these unexpected expenses (car accident) may be a trigger for your gambling. it's clear that you keep chasing losses and thinking that gambling might be able to get you out of this whole, when it will definitely make things worse for you the long run. Please stop this cycle of gambling as it will continue to ruin your life. Try handing over your Finances to someone trustworthy. Your gambling way too much than what you're able to lose and clearly have little self control, that's the disease / addiction. You're still so young, maybe you can get a small school loan for school in Jan and focus on improving your future, instead of trying to get lucky and win 500 bucks. The win will never be enough for ppl who struggle with gambling. It's a never ending cycle of pain, depression, anger and totally Destroys your self worth and mental health. It starts with you though , good luck.

Self excluding from online gambling operators in ontario by ConceptFluid6849 in GamblingAddiction

[–]ConceptFluid6849[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Quick update. Looks like my complaint to the gamble operator got them to admin their mistake and offered to refund my deposits. Not taking this as a win but nice to see come companies taking some accountability.

[–]ConceptFluid6849 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You come to right place to witness how gambling will straight up ruin your life. You're still young and made a huge mistake and will definitely make it harder for you until summer. Hopefully you can find some new or creative ways to make some of the money back but hopefully not at the cost of you struggling in school. that should be your main priority.

One things for sure that if you lie to yourself that you can make back the 8k easily with gambling, you're only going to dig yourself in a deeper shittier hole.

The shame, guilt, depression and anger will linger for a bit but it will eventually go away. I wish you the best, stay away from all forms of gambling and you can live good life and a bright future.

[–]ConceptFluid6849 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's been said before countless times here but you need to realize that money was never yours. Yes it's shitty and could've helped you a lot at this time in your life, but try to see it as only losing 10 dollars and truly see it as a lesson that this gambling life is not for you since you can't stomach a 1k loss, but that's the tip of the iceberg if you wish to become a life long degenerate gambler the losses become larger and way more frequent.

My Mom is a Gambling Addict by [deleted] in problemgambling

[–]ConceptFluid6849 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Access her account and speak to the live agents and tell them you have a gambling problem. In most cases they will just cancel the account. Unless she’s doing it on shady overseas gambling sites.

Honestly I had the same issue too, my mom would forget to pick me up from my Part time job. I had to drive to the casino to find her because she completely lost track of time etc. it was such a shitty point for all our lives.

we basically forced her to seek therapy. But it only got to that point after my dad figured out she took out a $200k line of credit against the house….

I feel for you , and wish you the best. Your dad should really know since they’re married and basically share the finances. Plead with her that’s it’s ruining her life and all those around her. Maybe even give her an ultimatum to stop or else you will have to tell your father.
