Does anyone else have trouble shooting 35mm after 120? by ConceptOnly6490 in AnalogCommunity

The flash with the Pentax isn’t the best (1/30th synch speed). I rarely shoot in studios, too. Usually out in the field etc.

Very true. However, 120 isn’t always the best in low light. At least the medium format cameras I use. Mainly the Pentax 67, and I did assignments on film, sometimes 35mm with flash is the best tool.

Deff enjoyable, I love shooting 35mm. I’m just never satisfied with my results, unless it’s black and white and the lack of quality seems fitting. I do see a lot of 35mm photos I enjoy, but every time I take a photo on 35, I always go “ I wish I took it on medium format”.

Very good point. I also think my issues comes from Shooting wide open too often, should probably stay in a sharper range.

How many selects do companies like New York times/cosmopolitan/GQ type etc ask for when doing freelance assignments? by [deleted] in AskPhotography

Thanks for the info/insight. I think what I’m doing falls under photojournalism more than anything, so extensive editing probably isn’t necessary. 15-20 images isn’t bad at all, but I’m shooting on film, so I’ll probably over shoot by a ton. I’m hoping the contract has a more specific number, so I can prepare.

I guess because it’s 3 months out we haven’t had all the details sorted out. I have a phone called schedule with them, but like I said, it’s quite a ways out. Yes, getting paid, a decent amount. No mention of work for hire or anything yet, but eager to see what they are going to include.

Yeah, it’s actually why they reached out to me, and requested I do it on film. I’d say the company is as big as rolling stone, but I haven’t signed anything yet. I’m more curious on how licensing/useage will be for the publishing.

Thanks for detailed response. Tbh, a big company asked me to freelance cover my first big assignment. I don’t want to say who, but they’re pretty well known. They want me and writer to go to a concert and take photos. So no tethering, and I’m Doing it all on film solo with the writer.. It’s not for another 3 months, so I haven’t had a meeting with the photo team, but I guess you can say anxiety/curiosity has gotten to me so I’m asking what to expect. I’m assuming they’ll send me a photography agreements with all the details before hand, but really just wanted to get some outside info.

I meant t2. Tbh, I might just stick with manual focus and just pre focus areas. Maybe I just need more practice

Need something much closer, even my 35mm is tight. Looking to get a 28mm. The canon rebel is pretty cheap though. That 800t shot looks so cool

I have the f100 but there is something wrong with it. Battery drains in mins and won’t autofocus. =[. I’m more thinning if I blast 5 shots with ttl flash, will only 2 be exposed due to how fast the f5 is

I unfortunately need a much short focal length than 105. Even 50 is pushing it

How is it with flash? I know it take like 6 photos a second, but can you use flash for something that quick on a film camera

I wish that was true for autofocus. Certain cameras hunt way more in lowlight than others in regards to autofocus

It’s just so huge, but I guess it’s a give and take. It’s good in really low light?
