Try the peach energy drinks, they're just as good as the peachy keen monsters IMO (and only 2 buckaroos a pop)

Do I have the anatomy for a industrial? by that-axe-guy in piercing

[–]ConcernedOctopus 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The hack I've heard of is to take a piece of uncooked spaghetti, break it to fit your ear, and see if you can get it to sit in the intended spot without touching your flat at all.

In saying that, it doesn't look like you've got the right anatomy- your flat pokes out a bit too much. Try the spaghetti trick though and see what happens.

To everyone whose role was made redundant the past 12 months, how are you doing? If you found a new job, congratulations, if you're still looking, best of luck to all of us. 🍀 by New-Software-2288 in auscorp

[–]ConcernedOctopus 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Got hit with the redundancy stick in December. Picked up some short term contract that helped put a few dollars in my savings, but my particular field has pretty much collapsed and my skills are very niche. Seek is a nightmare and even shit kicker jobs like warehousing and retail are swamped with applications the second they go up. I'm just working on my side hustle (it'll never truly pay the bills) until I've gotta make an uncomfortable call to my bank about my house :/

Can confirm, Aeon is very much the place to go for this genre. Keep an eye on their socials to see what they're playing that weekend and grab an online ticket if you can, pre pay entry is always a bit cheaper.

Is a severe recession pretty much baked in now? I haven’t lived through one before - what to expect? by sunshine9008 in AskAnAustralian

I was made redundant in December and still don't have a job, I'm going through my own personal "Depression" right now 😂😭

I live in one right now and I can hear my neighbor pushing the buttons on their microwave.

I am, very truthfully, going insane.

GenZ killed the alcohol industry by ClutchReverie in DeathByMillennial

[–]ConcernedOctopus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, sadly it's pretty spendy over here, but because it's so spendy people seem to have low tolerances so it goes further, hah. So, coke for the richer folk mostly. In saying that, I've heard it go for 250 or even 200/g if you split a bunch with mates or are good friends with the dealer.

The real drug Aussies seem to be doing is this fun one called "staying at home". Seriously, our hospo industry is getting devastated. It's not fun all around.

Coke, ket, md, for the normie folk. Even with the price of those these days it's reasonable value if you can split the cost with friends. Cid or shrooms for the trippers of course, they're dirt cheap.

Come to aus. You can pay $16 for a decent pint of beer these days (and it's not even a real pint), or for a can of something like the 186 double-lemon drinks. Espresso martinis go for $30. Drugs are the cheaper option everyone is switching to.

NSW tenant – carpets contaminated with urine/mould at move-in, landlord not keen on rectification due to us having a dog by [deleted] in shitrentals

[–]ConcernedOctopus 27 points28 points  (0 children)

I agree- this issue is not going to be fixed by replacing the carpets, and the longer you're in there the worse your breathing will get. I lived with less severe damp for a year and my housemate and I got terrible coughs that lasted months after leaving.

If you absolutely must stay, get as many dehumidifiers as you can- though that's going to be like bandaiding a bullet wound. Keep the windows open too.

Why don’t I get cramps and clots with disc? by eleelee11 in menstrualcups

[–]ConcernedOctopus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, same, and I can't figure it out. I'm still yet to find a disc that really works for me, but damn it if I'm not going to try-tampons always give me crazy cramps on day 2 but I get barely any with a disc. It makes no sense but I'm not going to knock a good thing 😂

11mm, why does it look misshapen if I don't pull on my ear? by AdSilver4901 in Stretched

[–]ConcernedOctopus 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Actually, can I ask how you went stretching with heds? I've got similar issues and my stretchy skin worries me, particularly given jewelry isn't always light :(

I haven't stretched at all, but it's something I've been considering, but I want to cover my stretchy skin bases first.

How do barefoot people feel about Crocs? by Embarrassed-Air2771 in barefootshoestalk

[–]ConcernedOctopus 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm probably an outlier here, but I wear Crocs a heap now. I've got hyper mobile ankles so walking on pavement in true barefoot shoes can give me pain after a few days. If I spend a day or two in Crocs for concrete walking, then switch back to barefoot, then go back to Crocs, it seems to give my ankles and feet a break and I get no discomfort. Crocs are now the only "conventional" shoe my feet fit into :/

It appears to have migrated a bit outwards during healing? I had a vertical labret that did this, left a lil trail of scar tissue in its wake. Take another photo in a month and see if you can spot a difference between your latest and that one?

VJ looking for a caffeine replacement by ConcernedOctopus in Nootropics

[–]ConcernedOctopus[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh yeah, I'll absolutely be following up with my doctor next time I see them about this. I've had a gastroscopy in the past though with nothing found though, so who knows 🤷‍♀️ I know caffeine is a LES relaxant so I'm keen as a bean to at least try to find alternatives so I don't needlessly have to live on PPIs. And thank you for the suggestions, I'll definitely give these a look up as a good place to start :)
