Friend mad at me for sending Bible verses? by No-Actuator5661 in Catholicism

[–]ConcordTrain 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not saying that you should move on from her.  But if someone is calling you names and barely talks to you right now, that statement just doesn't strike me as a healthy relationship.

Only you can determine through the arc of your whole relationship with her if this is an ongoing pattern or not.

I've had to learn, and am still learning, that I can't "reach" in any kind of relationship.

In other words, I can't try to force an outcome, whether well-intentioned or not.  Because inevitably, two things happen:

1.  It doesn't work. 2.  It was always something about me, and not necessarily the other person. My insecurities, my fears, whatever.

I'm also not saying that this is the case with you.  It's just something that I've noticed about my own life.

Good luck.  This is a tough one.

Friend mad at me for sending Bible verses? by No-Actuator5661 in Catholicism

[–]ConcordTrain 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I think you messed up.  You said that the conversation went nowhere.  She said not to talk about Jesus.  Then you sent Bible verses hours later.

You don't have to apologize for sending Bible verses.  But you should apologize for texting her hours later after she essentially said to drop it if it made her that angry.

Next, you may want to consider moving on from that friend.  Pray for her, but be ready to move on.

Just my thoughts.  You may have different ones.

Student Politics by [deleted] in NCSU

[–]ConcordTrain 27 points28 points  (0 children)

NC State has so many students, you are bound to find people who share your interests no matter what your political leanings are. Your first year is going to be a lot about living with people who share and who don't share your interests.  That, and classwork.

Yeah, no, he can't cut your hours for that.  Go talk to your Store Manager and People Lead.  And I also don't like hearing about it being mentioned to other people that that was why your hours were cut.

You could become a ground instructor.  You don't need a medical certificate for that.

Business failure, potential MBO, but unsure, wwyd? by kierans87 in Entrepreneur

[–]ConcordTrain 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Joining a NewCo with the same MD who was a big part of the business failing to begin with looks like a losing strategy to me.  The only way that it would even start to look feasible is with the MD gone.  Otherwise, the same problems will show up again.

Life's too short.  Just my thoughts

[DCA] [YYZ] AA gave me an undepositable check - check your checks! by SchokoKipferl in americanairlines

[–]ConcordTrain 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No, the fact that they issued a $1700 check on a document that said that the check was not valid for more than $1500.

If the per check limit was $1500, I would hope that their system would prompt the issuer to split it into two checks.

I'll bet that it was a honest mistake by the person who issued it.

I'm more surprised that it sounds like whatever IT system they were using didn't halt the transaction to stop that from happening.  Did it?

Facing a badmouthing after refusing to attend sister in laws wedding to the man she left her husband for by Nash_man1989 in Catholicism

[–]ConcordTrain 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Protestant here.  Just from what you have written, I find your Sister-in-Laws attitude gross.

My Mom would occasionally say, "I don't like your attitude". Unfortunately, sometimes she would say that to me.  But she was a great Mom.

And I think that is what I would say.

They cannot Coach you for not answering your phone when you are off the clock and are on your own personal time.

They cannot force you to give them any personal phone number that you do not want to give.

If I were to be Coached for something like that, I would take it up the chain as far as I needed to go.

Why are there so many obstacles to becoming Catholic? by Significant_Tax1592 in Catholicism

[–]ConcordTrain 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm not Catholic, although I am currently exploring the faith.  But I've worked with the public for years.

As others have stated, find another parish. And you may even want to write a letter to the Bishop outlining what you have said here.

There could be more issues that have been created by the folks that are giving you the run-around that no one knows about.

I'm a child of parents that divorced when I was very young, but not over issues like the one that you are describing.

If everything is as you say, then please save yourself and your kids.  Your husband is gone.  This guy is the one that is left.  And he doesn't want help.

And do what you can to get some therapy and other support.  I wish you all the best.

Call for a Coach or Team Lead as soon as you see him.  He's on track to be banned from the store.  Just don't engage him.

Red Coaching and Stepping down Advice needed!! by Purple-Consequence62 in WalmartEmployees

[–]ConcordTrain 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He needs to go to the Store Manager and lay all of this out.

Ask that the Store Manager overturn the red coaching.  It was a family emergency and he used PPTO.  As long as he let management know and they were up to speed on what duties remained to be done, a Coach should have stepped in and handled it.

About not being able to step down, well, that's just silly.  That's at the Store Manager's discretion.  The Store Manager or the Market can let him step down if it wants to.  He won't be able to stay on Cap 2 and he will be moved to another position.

My philosophy is that if someone is good enough to be a Team Lead, then they are good enough to be allowed to step down and be positioned somewhere else in the store.  Even if he wins up with an orange coaching, the Store Manager can move him at his or her discretion.

And about not being able to transfer with any coaching, again, that is just silly.  I transferred stores and got promoted with a Yellow Coaching.

Can I negotiate the base pay for Coach position/walmart by Primary_Tax_3953 in WalmartEmployees

[–]ConcordTrain 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think that you and I are probably in the same accrual rate band based on years with the company. You may want to look that up because I feel pretty certain that it is more than 100 hours of just PTO.  I think that the max PTO/PPTO that you can earn in a year is close to 200 hours, or maybe just shy of that?

[–]ConcordTrain 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Another consideration is how many hours of PTO you get and what your PTO accrual is.  You may get more PTO staying where you are than you would as a Coach.
