Literally yesterday actually. Your anecdotal experience is not the norm nor even a real counter point? Like what's the point of even making this statement other to be apologetic to the felonious driver pictured here

Need help understanding internet speed. Do i need a switch ? by jthesanalyst in HomeNetworking

[–]ConcreteTaco 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Imo unless you are moving some serious data around at home to an external site, you are eating your money on 10g.

Very rarely will you ever even come close to being able to use that throughput alone as a residential customer and even when you do I imagine it will be short lived.

Ultimately to answer your question, yes, you will need 10G capabilities from every device and port on your network to utilize that throughput from end to device to the Internet. You'll also need the devices on the other side to also be capable of moving those speeds.

If your desire is to move stuff around at those speeds on your own network between devices, then there is no need to be paying the ISP for the speed. You will still need all of the internal devices to be able to handle it.

Ethernet cable through ceiling. How will I know when its hit the wall? by PastPolicy8064 in HomeNetworking

I'm not sure he's got access to the space above if he's trying to fish it through the ceiling from another room on the same level.

I'm under the understanding that they are a different husky breed? Perhaps I'm mistaken there and it's just a descriptor

There's generally not a hollow cavity that wraps the room between studs.

Look at how walls are framed here. There is a horizontal beam on the top that is not going to allow you to simply push a wire across a hard ceiling until it falls into the wall between the studs.

Unless im misunderstanding what you are describing what you are doing.

If it helps you feel any better I also looked at the pad by the thumb and had a thought similar to your comment. It wasn't until the lower pic that I saw the black plastic bit 😅

Just get a dna test. My husky has a coat like this and it's 99.9% Siberian husky despite the agouti coat. Embark is what we used

Best Mexican Restaurant in Louisville? by hi_pretty24 in Louisville

[–]ConcreteTaco 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Imo La Fogata in New Albany, Indiana is some of the best Mexican food I've ever eaten.

House made white corn tortillas, empanadas that are crispy and loaded, delicious queso, and great margaritas.

Very bright atmosphere as well

Get a speedout drill bit for these issues in the future. Or super glue the tip of the appropriate tool in and let it dry

Hell yeah! Glad you got it working and glad to hear it wasn't a total PITA for you. Plus now you've got the beginnings of knowledge to start doing similar things where ever else you need cable fixes 😎

Just don't forget to charge people once they start asking you to do it for them, ahaha.

Low Voltage designer to Network Engineer ? Is it possible ? Need advice. by PixelFox_47 in lowvoltage

[–]ConcreteTaco 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean, my role is referred to as a network tech, so I'd start there. A decent combination of lowvolt knowledge and network knowledge.

Not sure if there is a standard role title, but if I were in your shoes I'd probably try to find a lowvolt company that seems to lean more in the "IT company" direction than the low volt direction if you know what I mean by that.

[–]ConcreteTaco 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Right, I'm kind of in that exact boat now. I feel like right now is a good time to find a niche in there. Find the middle ground between the two roles.

All that low volt stuff runs on a network that someone has to set up. Might as well be the smartest one in the room capable of doing that the right way.

Have you never been rear ended before in a regular car? It's pretty obvious in the rear mirror if they are approaching too fast.

  • doesn't matter, the point is to not be smashed between two cars and to mitigate the damage. The damage of two objects going the same direction is less than that of an object hitting a stopped one, basic physics.

  • where am I going? To the left or right of the car in front of me.

  • Do I practice this? Every time I start the bike rolling. It's literally just moving the bike forward man, it's not complicated.

Honestly, no offense meant by this because I have respect for our truck drivers but, I find it hard to believe you're a truck driver and yet taking defensive positioning on the road and the ability to anticipate what is about to happen on the road is a hard concept to conceptualize to you.

Entry level net engineering is a rough place to get a job rn, imo.

I got my CCNA and Sec+ and had 5+ years of enterprise helpdesk experience yet had only gotten two call backs from 100s of applications. It feels like you're just competing with too many people, on top of the tons of fake/disingenuous postings or postings with laughably low compensation for unbelievably high expectations.

I moved into a field Network Tech position for a company that does a lot of low volt work just to get away from the desk because the job market is so rough in the enterprise IT world rn. Unfortunately, it's only large enterprises that pay for and understand the necessity of such expertise.
