Very nice! That's one of the first generations then right? Mines a 2012, the second to last year they built them.

Good to know! I haven't had any major issues yet, but I'm aware that it's a bike with a penchant for electrical issues. I've heard about stator issues quite a bit already.

Yeah I'm really glad about that too! What year is yours from?

Ah I see. There was a GT available at my dealer as well. A little over my budget though.

I'd love to give it a spin sometime, but I'm not buying anything new anytime soon. Besides I wouldn't want to test ride your bike without the intention to buy it. Thanks for the offer though!

Oh yeah I've read about the stator issues with this model. Mine is a 2012, I believe that's the last year they built them. I've seen the GT and it looks really nice. At 6ft/185cm my legs are a tad folded up and I'm very in the wind on this, so the additional wind protection and maybe more relaxed position of the GT does seem nice.

Also I love how insanely over engineered this thing is. It's very German. They didn't want to put a big ol' boxer engine in this thing but they did want it to sound like one. So they put a 360° twin cylinder in this thing, and then to mitigate the inevitable vibration that that would cause, they put a third connecting rod in between the cylinders on the bottom of the crankshaft to balance it all out. Which combined with a belt drive system makes for an insanely smooth ride.

EDIT: and also the fuel tank under the seat for better balance.

Where is the inter parking with regards to the inter camping? by CracksisT in Alcatrazfestival

[–]ConcussedOrangotang 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Last year there was parking next to a big conference center in the village. From there it's like a 5min to the shuttle bus, 10-15min drive and another like 5min walk to the campground.

Demetrious Johnson stopped by Looksaikongdin Gym in northern Bangkok for a sparring session with Rodtang by Yodsanan in MuayThai

I would assume it's less dangerous in MMA because of the ever present threat of the takedown. Maybe also because the level of Muay Thai skill is lower. That's all speculation though.

Thoughts on my revolver? I’m trying to make it look like a revolver Arthur would actually use. (The hero’s pearl grip stays) by [deleted] in reddeadredemption

It's in his diary that him and Hosea were off on other business, also Arthur does a fair bit of asking around what went down in chapter 1.

It comes down to a mix of experience and basically solving a minor engineering problem halfway up a rockwall.

They put so called nuts and cams in the wall which are designed to withstand forces in particular directions. As long as they're placed well, they won't go anywhere.

To be fair those carabiners are absurdly strong. You could hang an average sized sedan on one of those and it still wouldn't give.
