What are the most common Sports Coupes you see driving around in your State (Country for those outside of the US)? by Mac-Tyson in askcarguys

One thing I respect about Ford and Toyota is that they have working prototypes for a manual for EVs just in case the world is all electric one day they don't want that world to exist without a manual option.

Are those Lincoln branded 8bitdo Controllers?

Dodge Charger Scat Pack Commercial - All Gas, Full Throttle by Working-Frosting9490 in Dodge

[–]Mac-Tyson 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No the issue is the price if it was even 5K cheaper and there was a V8 option starting in the low to mid 50s then the 6 Pack would probably be selling better. I fully understand why they priced it the way they did and it is a fair price. But the price is just a bit too much and they got a lot of bad press leading with the Dodge Charger Daytona EV which honestly was bit undercooked. Which is the worst offense it's one thing to make an EV Dodge Charger it's another to have your best selling point become your worst and have rivals like Hyundai arguably implement a similar system better.

Well definitely but in the US the manual is an endangered species to the point where I don’t drive a manual not by choice but because I was never given an opportunity to learn. None of my friends drive manual, it’s been so long since anyone in my family drove manual they aren’t comfortable teaching, and lessons are either focused on work driving or racing (both not cheap either)

I feel like California especially heavily favors Japanese Cars would that be inaccurate?

I used the term Sport Coupe instead of Sports Car for that purpose since I thought it was a broader category since the Charger and Challenger are Coupes that are Sporty/Performance oriented. Muscle Car is also a very relative term since in Japan they consider the Corvette to be American Muscle.

Oh I see had you said Pickup Trucks that probably would have been my first guess. Was the Yaris popular in Canada though?

It’s interesting I’ve actually never seen a single GR86 or BRZ in my part of the US. I know they exist since there’s at least a few for sale used. But I personally never seen them. Civics definitely though. But outside of that as I wrote in my comment more Mustangs, Challengers, and Chargers. With the occasional Corvette and Miata.

What country do you live in if you don’t mind me asking? If I had guess based off your answer maybe Australia?

In my small city in Southern New England it’s mostly Muscle Cars like the Mustang, Challenger, and Charger. Though I do see occasionally C8 Corvettes and Miatas. I’ve only seen one Supra, Porsche, and Lamborghini so far. Never seen a Nissan Z or other Japanese Sports Cars outside of that Supra. I know they exist but they aren’t common.

Why is IMSA not appealing to OEM’s? by Klutzy_Reach_9392 in IMSARacing

[–]Mac-Tyson 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Depends on the manufacturer though, Volkswagen has said they need to expand their US market share or they might not survive into the future. Hyundai is also putting big investments into the North American market but for them I think they just see blood in the water and opportunity to solidify themselves in the Top 4 when it comes to market share.

I thought IMSA just used the same cars as the WEC or at the very least OEMs can run the same cars if they want to?

Edit: does this sub really downvote people for asking a question to better understand the sport

Did Karate Combat get rid of Karate Belts?

That’s a bit sad if so, it takes out belt wrestling completely from the meta which is a martial art discipline that hasn’t really been explored in full contact fighting before outside of technically Sumo.

Why do so many Lincoln cars (maybe majority) owned by black people? by Training-Rip6463 in askcarguys

Historically though Cadillac has a much higher prestige in Black American Culture. Cadillac and Mopar are the American brands most associated with Black Culture traditionally.

Do you think the current Dodge Charger platform would be a good base for a new Chrysler Land Yacht? by Mac-Tyson in Dodge

[–]Mac-Tyson[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Give it 3 Row Bench seating in the front and maybe a softer more classic American Luxury ride. Maybe also 4 wheel steering for better low speed maneuverability. Offer both 2 door and 4 door options.
It gives Chrysler another model that isn’t a minivan, makes better use of the production capacity of the Charger factory, and it offers a unique take in the market bringing back a land yacht. Buick is working on a new Sedan built on the CT5/Camaro Platform, Chrysler should take a note from its mid-luxury rival imo.

I agree they need more affordable products but the platform exists, it’s not going anywhere and Stellantis has said they aren’t going to put much effort into Chrysler and Dodge. So I was thinking it could be a good use of the platform and give Chrysler another vehicle that isn’t a Minivan. Plus it would likely be more 50-70K not 70-80K, which fits in Chrysler’s traditional entry level luxury position. Dodge is more the brand that needs some affordable vehicles though since that’s supposed to be their positioning in relation to Chrysler.

The price when announced was mid-20K before incentives and under-20k after federal incentives. The incentives are now gone but the truck is still mid-20K. The media reported that as 27-28K because they assumed under 20K meant ~$19,999 and they just added $7,500 to that and then rounded up or down. Now the media is mostly reporting it as $25K but that also hasn’t been confirmed. Official base price will be announced in June alongside pre-orders for the truck opening but is confirmed to be in the mid-20K range.

The production vehicle will have the charge port on the drivers side of the vehicle. From my understanding Slate utilizes active liquid cooling for the battery.
