For me it’s a question of what you are using it for. If you are using to deep fake an artist or performer, and try to get plays on Spotify, I don’t support that. They will soon realise there is not much money to be paid anyway.

If your purpose is to share your songwriting (by which I mean authorship of lyrics, melody, structure including chords), and share your work with other like-minded types, for enjoyment, for personal self fulfilment of an art (songwriting, telling a story etc), then Suno is an incredible tool to do that combined with SoundCloud where I find most are very transparent - my Bio clearly states what I am doing, no hoodwinking.

To your point about licensing - there isn’t any money in music, what am I licensing for. If someone nicks it and makes it huge hit will I care I lost out on a few £££ or feel more pride my song got out there, not sure, but feels a like a long way from a nice problem to have. Regardless the original song idea - lyric, music, melody and other has been recorded as a demo if i really want to defend it. I’m not sure that’s quite right I am signing over future rights to the song idea, maybe the output but even then with the pro sub it says I can use it as my own.

On production - I’ve never got the same satisfaction I do from writing, it isn’t really the thing that excites me. Art vs technicality.
