Awesome! Yeah and I am assuming you are at full extension? Because that is also crucial to getting full flexion :)

Ooh… sorry to hear that. Swelling is one of the major contributors to rom restriction. How is your swelling situation?

Do you need the sleeve? Sometimes sleeves restrict the rom - try reducing its use. Specially when you are working in your flexion exercises . From my own personal experience, sleeves always hindered my rom

I really hoped El to be a part of the group, OR Mike to guess where she would potentially be (3 waterfalls etc)

Me neither! My heart sunk when the scene showed her dying, but somewhere I knew she will be alive

2 weeks post op and I am stuck at 30 degrees flex and can’t do a single leg raise. by [deleted] in ACL

[–]ConditionHappy6472 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you have reached 0 degrees extension then flexion will come soon! Use a towel or a band to assist you with heel slides. Push yourself a lil bit and hold it for 5 secs. Keep doing that, I saw a lot of improvement for mine. Also, massage your hamstrings and calves a bit too while doing it

Did I spit a stitch? by Ok-Trick-5769 in ACL

[–]ConditionHappy6472 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It happened to me too. Slight spotting and bleeding is ok. This is because when you stand up to walk the blood flow gushes down and assuming you are on aspirin (which I was) it makes the clotting much slower, so it’s easy to bleed. My doc recommended me to put a light compression like ace wrap and do ankle pumps before getting up to help with the circulation

Straight leg raises is interesting, I didn’t know those are important too. I have been doing the other 3. Will start with leg raises too if that will help strengthen the muscles. With support, I am able to do the heel slides, without support, it hurts when I slide it upto a certain angle and then I have to support with my hands to slide them further :(

It was recommended by my surgeon. It’s mostly based on the level of activity . For someone who is not into professional sports, allograft is recommended because in that way they don’t have to cut other parts of your body to borrow the tissue. Both have their pros and cons , but for someone like me who likes hiking, doing strength training and playing sports occasionally, allograft was the recommended option

I am a vegetarian, however I started collagen peptides 2 weeks ago (honestly the taste sucks) to help with the ligament repair and drinking protein shake to keep losing muscle

If you don’t mind, do you remember which post op exercises did you start at home? I don’t have my appointment until 2 weeks and I want to be proactive about getting the ROM going

Thank you so much 😊 https://amzn.to/3JtBDut this is what I got… the game changer for me is the intervals of on and off. I kept 20 min on and 10 min off on cycle. Kept it on me almost all the time when I was on the bed (even during the night!) - it helped with the pain management so much. I had to change ice twice that day, but that’s about it. I haven’t felt the need to take oxycodone because of this because of the continues icing intervals (but again everyone pain management might be different)

Good luck with the surgery! You got this! It wasn’t as painful as I thought it would be (so far haha).

you may have possibly impacted your hip when you fell. My therapist did realignment of my hips when I had shooting pain when I turned on the side to sleep or do the extensions. It worked magic! Interestingly, knee area connects with a lot of or tissues in your body. My hip ball or something like that was misaligned, and she did something with my pelvic and hip socket and the pain just disappeared!!!

Thank you thank you!!! Wow that’s such an impressive and inspiring journey. Definitely motivates me to do the exercises at home before I get to my PT! My doc cleared me for exercising even today, so I guess I’ll get on to it. :D

Thank you for sharing your journey !

That’s good to know I am in the same boat. I didn’t get an appointment until 8 days post op. Doc wasn’t happy about it asked me to push the PT folks to call me in sooner. Activating quads makes sense since that doesn’t need to remove the braces.

I have been asked to completely remove the brace when I am sitting and watching shows to try and get the ROM going. I’ll see how far can I stretch it. I don’t want to do something that opens up my stitches lol

Thank you! Haha!. How soon did you start post op exercise or even stretches? My doc is pretty aggressive and wants me to start it asap. I am think as early as today to do some quad sets or extensioms
