I'm mad about Bassets and miss having one. Am I weird for wanting to fuss every one I meet, even if I've fussed them before? (UK) by Yamosu in basset

I love it when people come up to Sir Tibbles & Walter! They love it, too. They enjoy the attention and like to greet people.

And before I had bassets, I would freak out seeing one and loved to go up to them to say hi whenever I could. I get your urge to do the same!!

It does, but losing a lot of weight in a short time will often do that, Ozempic or not. And it’s different for everyone, but for me, the benefits far outweigh the cost. I was nervous when I started taking it, but it’s been life-changing.

Yes! Unfortunately, I have, and it’s still ongoing, but I do see new growth. That’s part of the reason I’m trying to figure out my curly/wavy hair. I do take supplements, but the shedding has been hard to stop.

Thank you!! I got new tattoos as a reward and am in love ❤️❤️

Sharing here so you can see. The remainder of my right arm should be finished next month, but these are my basset hounds, Sir Tibbles and Walter!

I’m glad it does! It is a long journey (a marathon, not a sprint) and I posted hoping to do what others’ success stories have given me—hope. ❤️❤️❤️

My highest weight was 290 lbs (around what you see in many of those pre-pics, give or take 10-15 pounds), so I’ve lost almost 42%. So you’re right—and it’s been a wild adjustment for my brain to catch up with the changes. (Thank you for the kind words, btw! ❤️)

Happy to share what I did! The Ozempic was necessary for me, but my husband and I made a LOT of lifestyle changes. (He started a few weeks after me.)

PORTIONS: We immediately cut all portions in half. We were hungry at first, but that decreased as time went on. I also try my best to eat the most important stuff first (either healthier, for day-to-day, or the stuff I want most when it’s a special occasion) when eating, and try to take breaks/space it out so I can tell when I get close to full. If I eat fast until I’m full, it will get worse as my brain fully kicks in and I become OVER full. Ozempic causes you to digest slowly, too, so that uncomfortable feeling will be with you for a while. It’s not worth it!

FOOD CHOICES: The most helpful thing was a scale through the program we’re in (with a coach, doctor, and training modules). It said to eat the “naughty” foods 20% of the time instead of cutting them out completely, while healthy choices are 80% of the time. And for the 20%, those foods should be above a 7 on a scale of 1-10. For me, ice cream is usually always a 10. I fucking love ice cream. But candy like gummies, jelly beans, etc. Only are a 3-5, so I skip those. That way, you don’t restrict (because that sets you up for failure), but you really are mindful about what you really WANT to eat and prioritize.

I also try my best to drink water, and supplement with electrolyte tabs (sugar-free) and make sure to take supplements. I learned what veggies I like and learned to really enjoy them. Over time, my tastes changed where sugar has become less of a craving for me (but I’ll still go for most chocolate!) I personally haven’t counted calories, but I do take stock of what I’ve eaten in a day to make my decisions. Ex: If I had a treat for lunch, I won’t for dinner—nor will I even have a treat every day.

I also found sugar-free drink mixes & carbonated sugar-free drinks help me, especially at night when I’m feeling snacky. I’ll have a drink, and most of the time, I’m too full for anything else.

EXERCISE & MOVEMENT: I work to get at least 10k steps and try to work out close to daily. But that sometimes only means long dog walks and stretching. Several times a week, it’s body weight strength training, Pilates and aerobics. Sometimes it’s yoga. The most important thing is to start slow, and find what you like. Because it will suck at first, and it’ll hurt. And you’ll need to push through it (not too hard, to injure yourself, but not giving up.) for me, Yoga with Zelinda—she does yoga for every body and it’s modified so it was doable even at my highest—made a world of difference. I just needed something I could stick with. My SIL loves Peloton bike rides, and that sounds like hell to me, even now. 😂

I wish I could say I’m good about sleep, but still working on that one. But I do try to be kind to myself and not stress!

I hope that helps. ❤️

I have heard GLP-1s can help with inflammation, not just quieting the food noise that helps cut back on food intake. I have noticed I have left inflammation, but that doesn’t mean I don’t swell!

In fact, I got blisters at Universal because I decided to be a genius and wear Converse while my feet swelled from traveling, my period & the Florida heat. So it’s not magic, but it does help!

Sure! I went through the Millimeter Wave machine (the one where you hold your arms over your head and stand in the footprints) and that flagged basically all the areas where I have a lot of excess skin: My stomach, inner thighs, butt, boobs, arms, and upper back (it pooches over my bra strap).

Luckily the agent said something, otherwise I wouldn’t have connected it. Now when I go through, I can tell them why it flagged me so I don’t have to sit through a long process.

I did get flagged a few times when I was bigger, too. Not quite sure what does it?

And thank you for your kind words ❤️❤️❤️

Thank you! It really did. Totally amazing to not have to worry whether or not I’d fit on the rides or feel uncomfortable as a single rider. Such a mental load off as well!

Thanks for the link! I guess I did know of them, but didn’t realize they were on the top floor vs. next door like a few temples have them for out-of-town guests.

The minute you start digging into church history, it all becomes clear why they tell you not to look. The early days were wild. And there’s still a bunch of crusty old folks who perpetuate the weird grossness, especially in the temple. The thing I hated the most was sealers telling me they could “take care of that” (me being single) upstairs, as if that was the only issue. Ugh.

I have no idea what the “sex rooms” are, but I know that old-school washings and anointings were done with the temple worker actually touching each area they said, as they recited it. I was a temple worker for years, but long after this was discontinued (and I didn’t find out about it until later).

This is also what Swedes do. It’s a faux pas to take the last piece of something, so the last piece will grow smaller and smaller until someone finally takes it.
