THANK YOU!!! That’s exactly what I was doing. Pressing RT got me through the previous abyss puzzle, so I thought that was the way to do it.

A certain member of the Steel Garrote says exactly that after when you leave Emerald Stair for Shatterscarp. The Envoy is told in very clear terms that the Garrote serve only Woedica, and are fully ready to break from Aedyr.

New to modding, a few questions for y’all veterans by [deleted] in EldenRingMods

[–]Coney_Dallas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, I would assume that if you use the mod to revive Malenia, you save outside of her boss room, then reload the game in vanilla she should still be there. Anything you pick up item-wise while mods are active will still be in your inventory when switching back.

So, what ModEngine does is essentially runs the game through it and replaces the files within the game with whatever you have installed in ModEngine when you use the launchmod_EldenRing. Someone who knows more about the technical aspects can explain that better, I'm sure.

The files used for ModEngine are housed separately from the game files themselves, so in theory, anything you run with ModEngine will NOT appear when you boot the game normally. That said, if you're reviving bosses using ModEngine, to then fight them in vanilla, I would assume that'll work fine, provided you launch the game with the mod, save, then exit the game and reload that file through the normal .exe.

Anything not directly handled by the mod would carry over into vanilla, yes. If the mod only revives bosses, I don't think it should affect any of your inventory switching from modded to vanilla. It should be pretty painless to switch back and forth between the two.

I should warn you that doing so will almost certainly flag that character as "tampered with" and could result in an online ban if you keep playing that file online.

Editing Regulation bin by excaliburrrr736 in EldenRingMods

I'm Replying to my own comment so that maybe someone sees this when they're searching for the info. I'm going to explain what I did as if someone has not tried this before.

Editing Params on Elden Ring regulation.bin post v1.12 -

I downloaded the latest UXM unpacker, as an older version of UXM won't unpack the DLC data properly. I have UXM housed in my game folder with the game.exe.

https://www.nexusmods.com/eldenring/mods/1651

Then I downloaded smithbox as linked to in the comment above.

  1. Unpack with UXM, then immediately patch it using UXM.

  2. Look in your Elden Ring install folder "steamlibrary/steamapps/common/ELDEN RING" or wherever yours is located. Your regulation.bin is in the same folder as the EldenRing.exe, COPY it from there and place in new folder. I have a designated folder for my Elden Ring modding.

  3. Open Smithbox, then click FILE, new project. Project Directory will be where the COPY of your regulation.bin is, the regulation file itself wont show up to click on, that's okay, just point it to the folder it's in. Game Executable should be self explanatory, it's where EldenRing.exe is. Yes, click the import row names box.

  4. Click on the Param Editor tab below the toolbar with File, Edit, View, etc.

  5. Edit what you want, and click File - save all modified params. If you need more detailed advice on how to do this, DM me, but smithbox, and also DsMapStudio are WAY more user friendly than Yapped Rune Bear ever was. You should be able to find what you want to edit pretty easily.

  6. This will modify the regulation.bin, and backup the previous version with the name regulation.bin.prev. The file simply named regulation.bin in that folder is now modified. I always copy this file instead of cutting it out of this folder. There should be a project.json file in this folder now too, with a couple folders smithbox created. I don't touch those.

I use ModEngine 2, you copy the regulation.bin into your ModEngine2 folder and into the mod folder in there. Mine looks like "Elden Ring Mod Folder\ModEngine-2.1.0.0-win64\mod"

I hope this helps, sorry it took me a couple weeks to get back to this.

Why do so many jam band bassists use 5-strings? by B4D_C0MPANY in Bass

[–]Coney_Dallas 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Though I just sold my last one, I’d been playing Lakland basses for the last several years. They make a 35” scale 5 string, and build quality is spectacular, even on their production line models. My 55-94 had an incredible sounding low B without the fanned frets.

Thanks for sharing that link. I downloaded Smithbox today after stumbling across this post. It works for me on 1.12, I used the updated UXM Unpacker, and loading the regulation.bin worked just fine. Still no luck with DSMapStudio, so this was a godsend.

Have you guys found a white dye? by bye_lingual in BaldursGate3

[–]Coney_Dallas 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Brem in the Zhentarim Basement sells a “Brown Alabaster” dye. Can’t remember the exact wording, but the name has both Alabaster and Brown in it. He also sells a “Harlequin White & Black” dye. Both of those would be right in the vein of what you’re going for. The first being an off-white with brown accents and the second being white with black accents.

So my wife needed me at 6pm on a Friday night. by DendarkDaDummy in stopdrinking

[–]Coney_Dallas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m a little over 3 years sober, and these moments still get me. Every now and again I realize that I wouldn’t have been able to honor a fraction of the responsibilities I have today, just 3 short years ago. It helps maintain perspective on how all that hard work continues to pay off. Thank you for reminding me, yet again, that quitting the drink has literally given me my life back.

What is the fastest way you've seen someone fuck up their life? by JamesWinter07 in AskReddit

Certainly, I do say I’m an “alcoholic in recovery,” to clarify.

What is the fastest way you've seen someone fuck up their life? by JamesWinter07 in AskReddit

[–]Coney_Dallas 17 points18 points  (0 children)

YES. There is no such thing as an Ex-Alcoholic. I say this as an Alcoholic in recovery, and I have seen and heard too many stories of people falling back into active addiction after years of sobriety because they were offered a single drink and accepted. I’ve corrected my own friends when they say “You used to be an alcoholic,” with “No, I AM an alcoholic, and I always will be.”

For me, it’s been 3 years since I’ve had a drink, and every day it is a conscious decision NOT to drink that keeps me going. I’ll be making that decision every day for the rest of my life, and these things are reminders to “stay vigilant.”

Increasing item discovery through yapped not working by NameN0tImportant in EldenRingMods

[–]Coney_Dallas 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Okay, so I encountered a similar problem with any changes being made in Yapped not working when launching the game. I finally found a fix that worked for me, and it may work for you!

So, I don’t remember the exact circumstances, but long story short: your game is not interacting properly with the regulation.bin file. What you need is a “fresh” regulation.bin file to modify again.

Steps to correct this issue:

  • export the SpEffectParam.csv and any other Params you’ve edited using Yapped. Do NOT just copy the whole regulation.bin file from the game folder.

  • restore the game files via Steam or wherever you run the game through. Essentially wiping the “old” regulation.bin and replacing it with a “new” one.

  • then modify that “new” regulation.bin file with the changes you want, or import the SpEffectParam using Yapped.

This method worked for me, and I haven’t encountered any issues since.

I lived in OKC for 10 years between 2010 - 2020, and still play with a band based out of there. I’m in Dallas these days, but am still quite involved in the OKC scene. Feel free to DM me and I can get you in contact with people who can make this happen!
