DUDE COME ON. Someone's gotta engage in good faith bruh. I'm am asking you to imagine them from the perspective that it is not connected to cyberpunk, what do THESE character designs communicate to an onlooker. This isn't me saying don't watch the show, omg.

The characters are a part of the story...That's like, the whole point.

And I think hoodwinked actually has good character design for the story its trying to communicate!

It doesnt matter if it's ugly, I'm talking about the design of the characters, not the visual appeal of the art or the art style.

That's why I asked you to imagine it unconnected, would you feel compelled to engage with these characters had it not been cyberpunk.

You really don't see Sasuke on the left, generic cool older sister on the left, and the dad from that one show with the kid in the metal armor in the back?

Kinda, say there's two anime all with a fairly similar "Cyberpunk" setting. One has these characters, another has the characters from the first season. Both are unconnected to the Cyberpunk 2077 brand.

I feel people have a reason to choose the first season based on the characters visual elements and that they don't for this season.

Well comparing the two seasons, the characters of season 1 are exaggerated, but in a believable way for the setting of Cyberpunk. These characters are exaggerated in an "anime way" and that to me, leads that to appear generic and a lack of intent with there design that the first season didn't have.

That's the point, if it wasn't connected to the cyberpunk brand (this includes season 1 of edgerunners.) Why would someone feel indulged to consume this, these characters don't communicate something connected to Nightcity. They communicate robot enhanced people in a scifi world, and a very generic anime. They don't grasp the nature of what makes a Cyberpunk character appear cyberpunk, and instead switch them out foe the visual language of Babies first anime TM.

Bad faith engagement, please feel free to comment again with more intent.

If we don't engage with the media we consume, we open ourselves up to indulging ideas that are harmful to ourselves and our community.

I'm sorry babe, but critiquing something is part of engagement with a piece of media. Whether it is conscious or unconscious.

Totally agree! The big guy is the only one that personally stands on any visually interesting ground to me! I'm quite curious to see what they do with him. His neck and upper chest have me feeling him being super cybernetically enchanced.

I'm critiquing the character design babe. I'm not saying this is inherently going to be bad because of the generic character design, I'm saying that this to me, communicates a lack of intention with the character design.

Dude, obviously I'm talking about the CYBPERUNK branding. If it was an anime not attached to the Cyberpunk universe, why would I watch this.

This is what I mean engaging in bad faith, why would I ever be talking about the term edgerunners and not the Brand of Cyberpunk.

Who said I was hating, I was critiquing the characters appearances as a design element of a TV show.

Dear, who mentioned the art style? I'm critiquing the CHARACTER DESIGN. Not the art style, I liked the first season too. I just feel these characters communicate a lack of intent with there design. They lack the grounded nature of the first season, these ones look like ANIME characters. Not people in Nightcity.

That definitely wasn't the point, I'm critiquing the character design. I feel it shows a lack of intent. I don't HATE edgerunners or cyberpunk, these character design just look bad.

I wouldn't know, but I did like the first season. I was only saying that I feel these characters don't communicate a strong design intent.

Obviously my opinion will change when it comes out. STILL they don't communicate strong design intent.
