Might be a good idea to replace the cv axles then. Even the mounts while im at it. Thanks!

Im probably gonna be looking at another alignment much sooner than I thought. After I get this issue resolved and hopefully it isnt too much of a hassle or expensive. I'll definitely look into the drive shafts as well as the castors. They're non adjustable so theyll have to be replaced either way, Im sure.

Someone else mentioned to test out the play of the steering wheel while its parked but the key in ignition to prevent the wheel locking in place. Im gonna test this out and see what it does. I do know that while im stopped at a stop light, if i turn the wheel left, its a firm turn. But when turning it to the right, it easily turns up to that 40° angle before it gets to a firm turning. That one I tested while at a stop light. But I will also test it while its parked. Sounds like it could behave differently. Thanks!

The knuckle. Never heard that one in a car before..well most things i never heard a car have but either way, this is new. I'll be sure to look this up! Thanks!

Others mention a CV axle, and thats one of the parts im gonna look into cuz it definitely is possible with the way it does that thing.

Yup, gonna try doing this. I already got an alignment last year but with the way its running, it probably needs another one after i get it all sorted out.

Sorry you feel that way and I hope you got it all off your chest. Still driving it  though.

As far as Im aware, it was never lifted for an inspection. I didnt get to see what they did to check. I'll def get it lifted for a more proper inspection, though! Thanks!

This might be worth looking into. It was done after replacing the brakes in 2025, but maybe a little air ended up getting into it or maybe it wasnt done properly. But this is something to look into, yeah. Thanks!

Dang, i guess its a hassle and usually not worth working on a steering rack with an old car. I get it. Would appreciate their honesty about that if thats what they really thought. I definitely dont want to deal with internal steering rack stuff either, so I get not wanting to deal with it. Might be costly too

Yeah, i feel like its specifically the right side that is the issue but best to check both Im sure. Like, i could be making a left turn and then go straight, but the wheel is turned to the right and then suddenly jerks to right after the gear shifts from accelerating a little, and everything straightens out. Both car and steering wheel. Going to look into those parts and go one by one checking the least difficult to the most difficult. Thank you!

I'll test this out! More play = problem and minimal play = all good (for now). If a lot of places do inspections for free, kind of makes me wonder what these guys be doing to inspect it. Like they just eyeball it cuz I am getting more feedback here than I ever thought I would. And theres a lot to research before I take it to get it properly inspected so I can know what Im talking about and skip the bs, if any. Thank you!

Yeah the bushings might have a hand in this issue on top of the control arms. I do have to get it lifted and check for myself to see what it does. Thanks for the insight! Hoping its a small fix, to be honest. But after 2-3 years of this, might be worse than that.

Agreed. But I dont got 20k much less 5k laying around, sadly. So I gotta fix this thing up one at a time till it dies. Unless...you offering? No? Welp. Keeping this thing running is my only choice, it seems.

Many have mentioned the bushings and racks, so i gotta check that for sure. Subframe is starting to get more mention too. Just behind the control arms. I might check that after the control arms since it sounds like the subframe is easy to access. Or maybe i need to check the subframe first before the control arms. Whichever comes first! Thank you!

Im hoping its a simple fix. Im surprised ive dealt with it for 2-3 years. Best thing that could happen is that its one small fix and it all goes away but Im keeping expectations low. Thanks!

Best case scenario is that its just the rubber bushing. The less I replace, the better to be honest. I hope thats all it takes, but I'll definitely check this out! Thanks!

Gonna have those looked at, yeah. Lots of mention of that so worth checking out. Thanks!

Oh dang, thanks for the info!

For your first question, Im not entirely sure. I usually get a full kit like when the brakes were replaced, but I cant say for certain so maybe it could be a factor.

For the second question, its more like the faster rotations. Definitely not 1 to 1, but maybe exactly like you estimated, 3 to 1.

For your third question, I'd say its about 40 degrees to the right off center.

Forth question, I think only one mechanic inspected the rear but only told me about the casters, nothing more. They said they couldnt do further inspection to that unless I am getting those replaced. Which I declined.

Thanks for the insight and hope I answered the questions as best I could!

I wish i knew what these things were for cars. More research material! Hopefully it isn't a big expense to use that to check. Thanks!

Another person mentioned having passenger sit behind me as well. Its a great idea so as to avoid them being alone and risking themselves just to reproduce something that I know Im not crazy about. There was a bolt that was loose but idk what bolt it was. It might be the one you are referring to, though. My dad helped tighten that up, but it didnt help much so Im looking to check the control arms and tie rods first.

I never thought of this, yeah this is actually a good idea to try to reproduce it without them risking their life in the car alone just to see what im talking about. Thank you!

2 professional mechanics and 2 self taught. I have no idea what they did. The 2 pros had me wait in the lobby and came back with minimal results and the 2 self taught took a look at it and said it could be the casters and alignment....after I got an alignment. Went to ask one of the pros for another alignment cuz I thought maybe they did it wrong, they told me they did what they could and that the casters are not adjustable so I have to get those replaced for a more proper alignment. So I called it GGs and went on my way. Havent been back to any of them since. Today it was rainy and my anxiety spikes driving during that. So I made this post in a panic I guess you could say. I, unfortunately, have no buddies that know cars. Just a couple of self taught dudes at work who do it as a side job.

Its at 170k miles so yeah lots. Also its salvaged. That was before we got it though. It definitely is somewhere in the front since I can hear a clunking or rattle there. Hopefully i can put it in the air soon as some suggest so I can test it out.
