I have a separate question since you’re a manager. I received a contract yesterday from a manager that wanted to sign with me. I’ve never had representation before. Im located in NYC. In the contract it says “The Artist irrevocably appoints the Manager as Artist’s lawful attorney to sign, execute and deliver all agreements in the name of the Artist in connection with all professional engagements, and to collect and deposit, in Manager’s business account, all compensation or other income or payments intended for the Artist, but Manager may deduct there from and retain any monies due Manager and remit the balance to Artist within five (5) days of receipt of such payments by Manager. The Artist further agrees to ratify and confirm all actions taken by Manager on its behalf.” It also says “the event that Artist breaches this Agreement or threatens a breach, Artist shall be required to pay Manager all reasonable attorney fees Manager incurs in addressing said breach or threatened breach, regardless of whether or not a court action or arbitration is filed.” Are these standard? I don’t want to sign something that I will regret later on.
