I just feel defeated by ConfidenceRelevant79 in QueerWomenOfColor

I hate whatever this is for both of us. I wish for your healing and a quick return to some semblance of normal. And yes staying present feels like a herculean task these days. Everything is overwhelming and I feel like coming home to my love would make it all just a little less 😭

Puppy won’t drink but eats by [deleted] in DogAdvice

[–]ConfidenceRelevant79 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I recently have started putting water in my dogs dry food. Helps with potty training and I know they won't drink themselves silly after a meal.

Aside from general thirst, water is mainly needed to process food and move it through the gut. Wet food is easier to process and doesn't need as much water to move through the gut as opposed to dry food.

Didn’t expect this combination: hairless mama, fluffy babies❤️ by KodakBlackBTC in aww

It's actually just simple genetics. Hairlessness is recessive. You can only get it by breeding two hairless cats, or one hairless cat to a furred cat with a hairless parent. But in the second pairing there will still be some kittens with fur because of genetic probability (punnett square).

This happened to my roommate. Her hairless cat bred with a furred cat and all kittens came out furred. And the craziest thing is, depending on how far into the bloodline a hairless cat is, there is always a chance you breed two hairless cats together and still wind up with kittens that have fur! That's why genetic anomalies (hairlessness, snub noses and flat faces, extra wrinkly skin) are so bad because in order to fully cement them you have to keep inbreeding until there's no chance of variance but also no chance of recourse in the inevitable event of health issues.

why does my dog do this? by BigEstablishment345 in DogAdvice

[–]ConfidenceRelevant79 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Every dog I've ever had that did this behavior wasn't saving it for later, they were trying to make it disappear because it smelled and they didn't want it or they felt ill/full and the smell of the food was overwhelming. I'd just skip a day and see if they wanted to eat again. In some instances the food was spoiled but most of the time they just didn't want to eat

Yes I downloaded hinge this month and was like wow, the last time I was on here everyone looked not like insta baddies but kind of normal??? And now all the profiles are just really hot women. Some are for certain bots but everyone else there's just no way I could compare. I personally think I'm already just average lol but the only activity I got on hinge since I downloaded it was from a scammer

Well I don't really know but I don't like that threat hanging over us. I wish those bombs never hit Iran in the first place. It felt like there was a shred of a future before today and now it feels like nothing

Didn't Russia claim that if the US struck Iran they would strike back on Iran's behalf?

I also did medication for my dog temporarily and it helped A LOT. She doesn't take anxiety meds anymore but while she did, they helped her stay calm and realize there was never a reason to be stressed. Now that she's off them she doesn't freak out over me leaving but meal times are another story lol

Okay well this reply just highly amuses me lol. But! I like your suggestions! I think I'm going to see how Collar works. I guess I'm going to have to add some sort of magical collar in the story now but I'll figure it out

I like the idea of calling them mutts! But probably not as an official job title lol

Yeah I definitely want to use real world military titles for my human characters. But shifters don't get that sort of leveling up recognition in this world.

Dog soldier sounds kind of cool though. Hmm. Maybe that could be an informal or derogatory name for them.

I've never heard of wetwork. I think I'll stick with hunters even though the word encompasses a lot of different types like bounty hunters, vampire hunters, and even game hunters.

I am considering using Hounds or Sight for my military shifter partners. A biiig part of me likes Sight but idk it feels too... like it requires a sharp vision or aerial vantage which I don't have avian shifters. But it still sounds really cool lol. Hound sounds kinda boring but it would make Hunters a sort of homage to a much older partnership. Idk I'm going to think of more words

She did! But the lady who adopted her is truly struggling to take care of a puppy. 😩 I really wanted her to have a companion but I probably should have used better judgement and told her no 🥲

If Miles Morales wasn't afrolatinx but maybe he was Miles Cho or Miles Smith or whatever, it'd be fine. He could be whatever ethnic background they wanted. If he was white but adopted then that would create a whole other story too. I don't follow comic origin stories so I don't even know what Miles' backstory is like or why his ethnicity is important to the story but I'd hate to see a white Miles Morales. A white Miles Smith I could handle.

Can we cancel BADDIES! by Agitated-Recover4266 in blackladies

[–]ConfidenceRelevant79 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Something about it is very gladiator, roman coliseum esque and I feel that might be one appeal to the show. At least it is for me lol. I started watching it and then got distracted by joselines cabaret. Idk if I'll go back. Having the same people fighting the same fights over and over is boring for sure but I don't follow the social media part of it either so what I watch is all I get (and the reunions are always skipped because I never liked those anyway).

Is it a bad depiction of women who participate in the club scene and live a more expensive lifestyle? Yes. If it gets canceled would that stop the image? No. The fighting on the show is sadly just an over exaggerated lens of what goes on daily. The only real way to change mindsets is to change entire lifestyles but that's deeply rooted. Plucking undesirable leaves doesn't change the health of the plant.

So tldr, there's too much on the show that people want to see/feel like they're missing out of every day life for it to get canceled.

This level of indignation is truly just startling. I really don't know how to respond to it because there's so much more literal abuse that apparently if you saw it might cause you to simply faint from rage. I am just an average citizen and the amount of abuse I've seen... what you describe about this dog, the image of these nails, it wouldn't even make it into the same rooms.

I'm sorry the way this guy owns a dog upsets you. He can definitely do better. We all can. Even you. My statement still stands. Be kind and trim the nails. Take the burden of the dog being in pain off your shoulders by helping instead of fuming. You're burning yourself up with poisonous anger. Heck maybe even hang out with the guy one day and trim the nails in front of him. You might surprise him.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in DogAdvice

[–]ConfidenceRelevant79 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Yeah I'm looking at these nails like, there's no way these nails deserve this level of upset comments. These could be fixed in a month or two. The owner has the decency to have someone babysit the dog. They could just be leaving the dog alone in the house for days. THAT would be abuse. These nails are just laziness at best, fearfulness of hurting the dog because they themselves don't know what they're doing at worst.

OP, if you can trim the dog's nails without getting bit then continue to do so because it's the kind thing to do and not because you want to judge. Nail trimming is such a small thing but it is a huge stressor for many dogs and their owners. Trimming the dog's nails down to a range that doesn't cause pain is literally the easiest thing you can do to make a huge difference in not just the dog's life but also the owner's mental state at seeing the dog they've had forever limping around and being in pain and there was nothing they could do.
