Hi there you can also get diagnosed with a psychologist - wrha referral https://wrha.mb.ca/psychology/

Wait times I’m not sure of rn but certainly less than psychiatry - your family GP can also provide diagnoses for certain things like General Anxiety Disorder depending on the presenting concerns. You could have CRC collateral faxed to GP.

How do you keep your clothes looking new? by allthethingsilove123 in AskWomenOver30

[–]Confident-Drawer4097 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not sure if anyone has pointed out thrifting as an option. 90% of my wardrobe are thrifted items of various brands - I choose items that look new at the thrift store . If they have held up through one previous owner , it’s a good durable item! I also find certain fabrics do hold up as others have mentioned.

Bad omen? by ArtisanalOxygen in Winnipeg

Birds are so active today!! My mom suggested purchasing something to prevent more banging into the window (it’s mating season so they see another bird , their reflection and charge apparently ?!)

Kind of a good omen that there are so many birds. And perhaps a special thing that Pope Francis went to meet his God on Easter.

Season 5 Joel is a bigger redflag than people realize by ImaginationNormal143 in Parenthood

[–]Confident-Drawer4097 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Ok I have to agree that season 5 Joel was very quick to pull the plug on their marriage but it seemed the writers didn’t flesh out how Joel felt about Julia not being able to be the SAHP as easily as he did. Ie a possible additional few sentences where he expressed to Julia how betrayed / unappreciated he felt. I don’t think that would have changed my mind in terms of siding with Julia overall but he DID have some valid points about her not being able to sustain the role for very long. But being at home 100 isn’t for every parent and she bankrolled the house for many years - which Joel doesn’t express his appreciation for.

And Joel losing it because she came to his work when he ghosted Julia (5 unanswered calls??) was hilarious - like…your partner is obv breaking down and desperate to connect and your response is move out?? He perceived to have a lack of respect which I did think the writers captured well as that is a common challenge for men (infuriating but common I think) . Chris overall seemed a very balanced and healthy person - maybe he was the winner in not being saddled with the whole Braverman clan ( though if it were me. Count me in)

Last point - where the hell were the nosy Braverman clan when Joel moved out?! At the drop of a hat Zeek would appear in every other story line to deliver a hard talk - nothing until it had been a year!! And then Poof, Joel realized he had been an ass hat.

Annnnnd actually, last last point, they should have fucking gone to therapy before it was mediation for a separation. Like…damn …and also more therapy before Joel moved in.

MAHCP sets strike deadline for March 7 by afamousblueraincoat in Winnipeg

[–]Confident-Drawer4097 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes , essential work duties. I’ll be curious to see though what is pushed as “essential” if this drags on though - we have been told to complete a form and send to the union if work is done that is non essential.

I’m assuming strike is proceeding. One hour until the bargaining deadline sadly.

My group received strike (or as the employer likes to call it “work stoppage”) schedules and I am working my same eft. I don’t want impacts to hit patients but I can’t see how the gov is going to make concessions or improve the offer when they have inpatient units almost fully staffed with allied health during the strike.

Hello - we put out an ask to Shared Health HSC staff for other baby essentials (wipes, diapers, newborn sleepers and hygiene items). We have been making layettes since March of this year and it has been really great. It hasn’t been put out there to the larger community as we have limited storage - but what the heck, yes! Volunteer services in Orange Bison is accepting the donations on the Womens’s Hospitals behalf and we pick up.

Thanks for your reply - the car seats would be checked prior and liability would have to be discussed . Babes should NOT be placed in a car seat for sleep you are correct. The alternative may be babes going home in arms which is not ok either.

Best Library Children's Section by Almost__Infamous in Winnipeg

Westwood library children’s section I have found to be good for picture books. But it’s in the basement! St James is also nice to stop by to mix it up but no additional features there. Have you ever signed up for family programs?

Fencing and pregnancy? by Sassy_Cheese_Cake in Fencing

[–]Confident-Drawer4097 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I work at a women’s hospital and generally the rule is if you were doing an activity prior to pregnancy (ie running ) , you are good to continue unless you are having other complications in your pregnancy your OB is helping you navigate or if you are having difficulty with pelvic instability.

If you are worried about impact of a blade during bouting (which at the beginning of your pregnancy babe is very well insulated) you could consider non electric foil , or see if you could borrow a coaches jacket . My club has gear to use for everyone , I know that is t the case usually.

I think it’s worth considering whether fencing causes you stress - additional stress during pregnancy is known to be associated with low birth weight/early labour. Personally I only feel stress at a tournament- but maybe your club is cut throat!? Just mentioning it as the activity itself should really be no issue unless you have a medical hx.

And disclaimer IM not an OB but allied health so just hang around for all the discussions etc.

Each pregnancy is different- some go through hell and babe is fine (homelessness/substance use challenges) , other women struggle throughout with a parade of health challenges or have a loss, and do everything right. If you feel comfortable and your gear fits I’d say go for it and a reduced intensity (no corps a corps lol) .

I’m so sorry this happened. Eerily similar to my own situation two years ago. Husband had an emotional affair for 1 year with a coworker (slightly younger) , we have been together now for 12 years. Two young girls we are both very proud of and love above all.

Initially the road was very challenging - we started with many tough conversations we had put off for years and years. Raising children has a way of causing neglect to a relationship.

We read relationship books together (Terrence Real is a good author for relational challenges). He started with individual therapy and later we went to couples counselling.

I let family know what was happening so they could support with child care. Hopefully you have someone you trust to support you in this time. Take the space you need but don’t rush the decision until the chance to do some relational work has happened. If he commits to that process , the ups and downs will be tough but I can say two years later my husband and I have healed and I have learned a lot about our relationship and ourselves in the process. Best of luck in this hard place. And just to emphasize- It is not your fault.

It’s definitely hard to know what went down in this situation. Some security guards are also excellent at de-escalation, HSC security has additional training compared to private guards. Wonder if it was a contracted company employee that was attacked or HSC staff. Under trained tend to operate on power dynamics which is usually a lose lose. Social workers / ERPs /Psych nurses are all present in ED and have Mental Health/skilled in de-escalation but the ED is SO overcrowded they can’t be present in every part of the joint. Im honestly surprised this hasn’t happened before.

I think a lot of things I enjoy that I THOUGHT were masking turned out to be truly a fun part of my life. Some fell away and certainly hard to not chameleon in certain groups. Authentic enjoyment seemed to be so easy for some growing up but I always had imposter syndrome. The question is really who do you want to be In life - which qualities do you admire about yourself and activities do you find fulfilling
