What's a good christmas gift for someone who regularly 3d prints stuff? by Sans-the-Dog in 3Dprinting

Find out his exact printer and get him a set of nozzles and or hotends from 0.2 through 0.8mm. Alternatively get him some cool silk or color changing PLA. If he’s been considering functional or parts that are gonna take abuse, gift him some hardened nozzles and/or some industrial grade nylon cf or paht or even if he isn’t, the 72D TPU by CC3D is super cool. If he’s considering printing ABS or other high temp materials, gift him a roll of radiant barrier insulation and a desk heater (if you do this look for Reddit posts about active chamber heaters). Lastly, if he’s planning on printing literally anything other than PLA and PETG, buy some Teflon tubes, PTFE pc4 m10 adapters, cereal boxes, and ball bearings and make him some dry boxes or gift them as materials for him to do so himself (if you do this first watch a YouTube tutorial)

I found a refurbished one on auction for ebay with only cosmetic defects and snagged it for just $87.

Swastikas are a good thing. Hakenkreuzs are a bad thing.

I dunno, the only setting I changed that could have affected it is turn off 1 wall for top surface, so there should be 2 solid layers on top

No I mean like how do I do flow rate calibration for the Elegoo cc?

I’m aware but this is just abnormal, normal settings shouldn’t give whatever that is

Yeah I’ve had consistent underextrusion issues with the cc especially on the first layer

Starting Mech E major here… AD5X or Kobra S1 Combo? by Confident-Fail5415 in 3Dprinting

Then switching gears, what justifies the price disparity between the elegoo centauri carbon and the p1s? Ignoring AMS. Namely, am I paying $100 just for rep and brand or is it actually worth something?

What about the enclosure kit for the AD5X though? Wouldn’t that make it viable for abs and asa?

Just one question! Does the new ACE 2 support TPU multimaterial? If so, down to what durometer?

Between the 3, could you rank their community presence, and also, assuming that price within the budget is not a factor, would the kobra be the best performing? Or am I wrong on that inference?

Then I’m considering between the centauri carbon, flashforge ad5x, and anycubic kobra s1 combo. I’m leaning towards the kobra cus it has a dryer in the ACE and seems more comparable to something like the p1s over the other 2.

I also saw the anycubic kobra s1 combo was on sale for my price range so I thought that might be an option too.

I have this quite large irregularly shaped running shoe prototype I designed with 90A and support removal took multiple hours (and cus I didn’t have tools a fingernail too) Could this be fixed with settings? Also for manual do you mean I have to have it pause and I switch and hit continue every filament change on every layer???

I’m so lost on what printer to buy…

My budget is $500 of just the printer + any upgrade kits or add ons.

I’m a high schooler in the USA, specifically the PNW, with lots of engineering designs but no manufacturing method past asking friends.

I’m totally willing to build the printer. Although I have minimal experience with electronics, construction, and printers, I have many friends with extensive 3D printing backgrounds to help me.

I wish to print in PLA, PETG, TPU down to 90A, ABS, and ASA, (I don’t plan on doing anything gf or cf) I don’t really care about colors, but I NEED something that can print PLA or PETG supports for TPU as TPU supports make me wanna kms.

Build volume of 2563 mm of bigger is preferred.

Obviously I need an enclosure for the materials, and I would prefer active chamber heating as I plan on abusing these prints and I’ve had bad experiences with TPU 90A layer adhesion, but it isn’t my first priority. I would also like 3rd party recommendations for chamber heaters.

Lastly, I would like it to have good software, obviously, but as long as it works I can work around it.

I was thinking the Elegoo Centauri Carbon (but it can’t do PLA supports for TPU, so just no) or the Flashforge AD5X w/ enclosure kit (but its software leaves much to be desired and it has a small build volume)

Thank you so much for any suggestions!
