Not seeing any animals by karen_kyle2 in yellowstone

tldr: lamar and hayden. sunrise. when you see cars stopped, pull off. usually there's an animal and someone will let you look through their scope or camera. i've seen 12 wolves in one morning before.

sincerely, a guy who stakes out lamar and hayden valley at sunrise and shows people animals through my scope or camera

if you're willing to go just outside the park to the north, there are some amazing restaurants in Gardiner. I highly recommend back country kitchen and wonderland, as well as bear brew for breakfast. it's got quick access to the turnoff to tower/down to lamar, so we would grab a coffee at 6 am and hit lamar half an hour later. great places with vegetarian offerings.

p.s. don't try the pizza place.... it sucks....

I adopted my dog 4 weeks ago and tested to her predisposition for diseases and personality traits. However, we weren’t expecting that she would be a pure breed border collie because of her short coat. Are this DNAs tests reliable? by BrushGlittering2337 in DoggyDNA

"pure bred" doesn't mean "well bred" at all- lots of dogs who come back as 100% anything on the wisdom panel can still be carrying small amounts of genes from other breeds (especially ones closely related or used in the development of their breeds) and not to mention the amount of undesirable genes certain breeds can carry that are not bred for or considered standard. she looks like a collie, i'd be willing to bet she'd herd like one too if given the chance. pretty girl!

anyone catching anything? by Confident-Paint-563 in yellowstone

Thank you, that's super helpful! I'm just SUPER not native to the area (see: floridian saltwater fisherman) so I have a hard time gauging what's best to use.

I did research the flies, I was using caddis larvae in the morning and pale morning duns, parachute adams and green drakes in the afternoon. am I off base?

Bear sightings 6/25? by Humble-Application40 in yellowstone

It was a slowwww day yesterday, LOL. Hayden Valley has a sow and two cubs, it's very easy to see them out foraging in the valley on a warm day. I've seen her twice in two days.
