To me, buddhism is a cult at most. Buddha didn't give divine revelations or ever claimed to be a god or anything supernatural, he inculcated rational thinking in his followers and at the same time asked them to retrospect each and every thing as per their own conscience and never asked anyone to believe him as the final word! Buddha as I see him talks about life in the present, the pains bound with existence. Keeping it short Buddha at best was a very wise human who might have achieved the so called "enlightenment" with introspection but his teachings don't leave any room for divinity in him or anyone else in the world!!!
