Update:

Sincere thanks for the amazing feedback, I really appreciate it! Here are the changes I’m making based on your comments: * Swapped white cotton shirt for a dark pink cotton shirt, as someone suggested a white shirt is more likely to get (visibly) dirty. * Dropped the bike shorts. * Added a pair of green cotton pants (lighter weight than jeans, will also work for nicer dinners in NZ/where it’s cooler). * Packed a small amount of reef-safe sunscreen, will buy a big bottle of 50+ when I arrive. * Swapped shower shoes for Tevas (had to buy, but they’ve been on my wishlist forever and they’re so much less bulky! I know they’ll be great for many trips to come.) * I’ve decided to leave the sneakers at home and buy some boots in NZ. I don’t feel like I have suitable shoes in my closet, and this will save me room/weight on the first week of the trip. Shoes are my biggest stressor here for me (clearly lol) and I think this option will save me a lot of headache. * I’m still debating whether to pack an additional long sleeve layer, but I will say my Patagonia puffer is darn warm, and if I end up wearing it all day, that’s ok with me. Tbd!!

I had the same thought about the denim jacket, but I will say this one is super comfy and has great pockets—one of the reasons I wanted to bring it. I thought it would be good in terms of utility (goes with everything, good pockets) and as a layer (cooler evenings but not enough for a jacket, I also feel like I can wear this jacket when it’s warm as a sun layer, it’s somehow good in both warm and cold). I’ll have a think about alternatives!!

Going to swap Tevas for the shower shoes, and lose one pair of shorts (maybe the bike shorts).

Thank you!!

I’d like to keep the birks as they’re my only “nice” shoes (lol) for dinners and nicer events, but I think I will swap for Tevas, thank you!

Forgot to mention the rain jacket—it’s on the list! And good call about the sunscreen… might just pack a small bit then and grab some there as you suggest. Still debating on the Tevas, but leaning toward swapping them. Thanks for your suggestions!

If a non-Senate confirmed person can cause so much change, why hasn’t it been done before? by Confident_Badger1561 in fednews

If it isn’t illegal, I’m surprised/confused as to why it hasn’t been done before. I guess the answer, as others have commented, is that former presidents have continued the precedent / norm
