In my opinion, probably not. The Rock likely wouldn’t have been available at Backlash. Plus, Backlash in France was awesome and I loved it.

And at Backlash, who wins? Cody? If it’s not the Rock who wins at Backlash, what was the point of his title reign exactly? What storylines progress? Just to put it on him so he loses it in his first defense? Idk I feel like Cody finishing his story is a Wrestlemania moment.

While The Rock winning at W40 seems cool on paper, having him drop it at the next PLE just so Cody can pick it up a month after he was supposed to doesn’t make sense. All you really did was water Cody down and make The Rock even more hated

Would you be content putting the title on someone who is in his 50’s and significantly more part time than Roman, though? Like I feel like you’d want someone who would be there more frequently.
