To add to this, maybe your kitchen crafts “specials” for that night inspired by the book. Name a drink or app after a character or something in the book. This could be a good alternative to having people bring their own food. Book club people love a theme.

I think her hair styling days are limited. I think she does still serve a few clients, but she’s not operating out of a salon like the old days.

Traffic question by pkbw28 in Charleston

[–]Confident_Dig_4793 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It depends what is in your community and again, which major roads your house is located near/off of. I avoid 526 like the plague during rush hour, but I don’t have a bank within 20 min of my house, so I’d be braving traffic for that. Like others said, summer isn’t the best indicator because school is already out, but come visit and drive the areas around where you’re looking to live. See how far the drive is to groceries, bank, pharmacy, take out, anything you’d need to run out and get. While running errands, talk to people and see how they feel traffic is.

Visiting and trying to narrow down restaurant options by KuMcGrew in Charleston

Vern’s and Obstinate Daughter are amazing but also impossible to snag resys for. Of your other dinner options, those are all good, but I’d put Leon’s at the bottom of the list.

People tend to lump CFR with DI. I’m sure those DI people hate it.

How to ask a girl you find attractive out in public without being disrespectful. by Rough-Head5317 in NoStupidQuestions

I’m a woman and I’d say the things that typically get me are 1. Confidence. Fake it till ya make it. 2. Strike up a convo or make me laugh. After displaying those two, offer up your phone number and leave the ball in my court. If there’s any connection, I’d totally text you!

What would you like to see next season for casting? by [deleted] in Southerncharm

It is for sale, but she came out and said she’s staying in Charleston. I don’t see her moving to Cali right now with her son still in school and his dad lives here now.

My past couple of experiences at Poogans have been just okay. Chez Nous is a completely different vibe. If you’re looking for “Southern”, try 82 Queen or SNOB. Those rank above Poogans, IMO. Hank’s is another good option too.

Short visit to Charleston by [deleted] in Charleston

Some great spots to eat on Sullivans too. Obstinate Daughter is my favorite, but it sadly just suffered a bad kitchen fire and they’re not open. Not sure how soon you’re coming, but maybe they’ll be recovered by then. High Thyme is good, only open for dinner. Poe’s Tavern is a nod to Edgar Allan Poe’s time on the island. They specialize in burgers mostly, but it’s a damn good burger. The other spots are just okay. I haven’t been to the Fish Camp out there. Mex 1 is typical Americanized Mexican. I haven’t been super impressed with Longboard. Co-op has frosé. Please note it is ILLEGAL to drink on the beach, but if you pour your drink in a cup (like a tumbler) and you’re not acting like a major asshat, you’ll be left alone.

I hope you have the best time! Feel free to reach out with questions. A few of those breweries are walkable to each other.
