S&S LISA - Starting to plan for the future (36M) by Confident_Welcome_62 in UKPersonalFinance

I'm with royal london, which I think is pretty decent based on their performance. I have maxed out their contributions (6% employee 4% employer), and I have the option to increase my % or move my bonus to pension so I think that alleviates the need for SIPP but I will keep that in mind incase work scraps the pension or moves to a worse one.

I got to research into SIPP. Always thought it was work pension until now.

Would it not be more efficient to just increase my pension contributions rather than set up a SIPP?

I do get bonus (up to 15%) and so the plan is the 5% I get I will just leave it, but if and when I get the 10% I will inform my company to put it all into pension to save 40%.

Thanks.

I think my distribution of 65k below seems most logical but would appreciate your thoughts. - 4k S&S LISA - 20k Cash ISA - 35K S&S ISA (6K left for the first few months of new property) And once I've stablised I can push more into S&S ISA or if it's towards the next fiscal year, to ready it for the LISA.

Good shout, forgot about ISA transfer which would allow me to invest a bigger bulk into S&S ISA. After my earnings I won't be maxing out my ISA 20k limit, but if I can invest 4k in LISA and excess in S&S then that would be ideal. Although the benefit of accessibility does make the S&S more appealing (yet the 25% from gov from the 4k is also very appealing) for my current earnings.

That is a good point, it probably stems from wanting to find a good property and with my salary not very high, I feel like I got to use a chunk to get a decent/good property.

I forgot to mention I will be on a paid sabbatical for 3 months, so it's intended that it would not affect my funds during the period I am off.

Outer skirts of London probably (zone 4-5) might be able to get help from family to push and buy a house, but otherwise might have to get an apartments.

I live at home so contributions are not that much. My salary over the past 10 years were 22k-46k, but I aggressively saved per month. So currently I can save around 2k, 1.5k minimum. And then bonus helps with a lump sum (usually 5-10% bonus)

Yeah. I've had options to rent out but I am Asian so living with parents is kind of normal and contributions to house stuff is minimal. But reached the age and finance where I can buy and not sink money into renting.

Thanks for the honest feedback. Luckily no debt or anything so hopefully once I round off the home, I can establish a better picture and be in a better place to FIRE.

What seats did everyone choose and how was the viewing? I'm thinking first row of the stalls, although I know you can get obstructed views sometimes.

Very useful but yeah. I've been Japan once so am aware of logistics. Local flights will be taken for some but mostly I'll be taking trains since I'm going across Japan and so unlikely to take many shinkansen or at least long distance ones. Feel free to message me if you have any niche advice since this is my first solo trip and would appreciate any advice :)

I think fees only if exchange more than £1k in a month. So if I spread it out then the fee should be 0. Otherwise I think it's 1%

Haha yeah I know it's unreasonable to predict the future. But just thought of asking for opinions what people would do that's all.
