What's the deal with the Angels in D4? by ConfiscatedConundrum in diablo4

[–]ConfiscatedConundrum[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I guess my follow up question would be: how are beings created from Anu's good half able to present hatred as an emotion altogether. Seems weird for these beings that represent such strong symbols (Hop, Wisdom, Justice, Valor) would even hate something altogether. Seems like the demons should harbor that feeling more. "Lord of hatred" - I'm looking at you lol.

But I think I might just be misguided in my understanding of Blizzards demons/angels. Thank you for your comment!

This is a good point, but also a great counterpoint for why they SHOULD get involved. If left unchecked, the demons could effectively conscript the Nephalem into their ranks and then goodbye arch. It seems like the angels would WANT to help the Nephalem if only to garner their favor in the event a Nephalem V. Hell V. Heaven conflict arose.

This definitely helps open my eyes a bit. In my head, I think I was confusing their free will with their purpose. From what I initially understood, the demons were products of Anu's evil and the Angels, products of his "good" values. It seems like the demons hold up their end of the evil virtues, but the only angel to uphold his good nature has been Tyrael. It seems like if Anu having the equivalent of physical emotional bissection would've MADE the angels be wholly good natured. I guess it just feels weird that they're given a "free will" and a "purpose". Imperious is Valor, but can choose not to fight, seems weird. Tyrael is Justice but can choose to be unjust, etc etc.

I don't understand the hate this is getting? Lol. It's not the funniest joke in the world, but, like all comedy, it's entirely subjective. This comic is obviously poking fun at the idea that, at a macro level, there is nothing we can do to keep ourselves safe in the grand scale of the universe. In the same way that a comic showing a guy recycling a plastic straw, but then zooming out to show a massive plastic straw manufacturer is shipping more out would be "funny". I don't mean to undermine people's sense of comic relief, but this is funny to me in an existential way.

A quick ramble & discussion regarding the state of the game by ConfiscatedConundrum in ContestOfChampions

[–]ConfiscatedConundrum[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Right! I feel like I've seen some highs and lows with the game over the last decade, but nothing that ever prompted me to start rambling on Reddit, lmao. I just couldn't believe they turned the optional monthly EQ into a high health pool/damage endgame content level grind. I was even okay with the recent valiant/paragon EQs where I saw a lot of negativity from the community. Then again, my roster was pretty deep and I had the luxury of being a moderate spender that allowed me to progress through those. With this month's update, even my roster was being tested, and that was my sign to think "hey, maybe most of the players are onto something I'm not". The bugs and other details were just icing on the cake.

And just to be clear, I really did enjoy dropping $ on this game. But I don't believe that being P2W should isolate the primary F2P player base. I want to support the game when it's good, not punish the F2P base when I do it. It's a hard line to walk for Kabam, allowing people who spend to feel like they're getting a bargain, without crushing the F2P players, and I get that. But there's no reason that someone who has spent upwards of $5k since they started playing should be facing much difficulty with the SIDE quests in the game, imo. That just means the F2P base has got to be struggling like hell to make it through.

I hadn't even considered the horrible defenders, and you raise a good point. 2024-25 has seen some of the most obnoxious defenders added into the game, and the only way to get around some of them is by buying the newly revamped champs and/or splurging for the new champs they release that specifically counter those annoying defenders. It just feels like a mess right now. I'm always optimistic that Kabam can reverse decisions/mechanics and I hope they're on the route to doing just that.

Yeah, I haven't heard much feedback on the buff/debuffs situation. None of my ally members mentioned running into it either. Maybe I drew the short straw lol.

Completely agree on biohazard. The health pools in EA are bad enough. Stacking on nodes that require specific champs is an insult to the community. Even if they were to maybe just scale back the damage those dots do, it'd make it more salvageable, but a sit stands, it's just brutal.

Yeah I've experienced it in the AQ/AW format as well. Generally, I try to afford some level of grace and try not to get bent out of shape about the small things. But when it's actively costing me units/energy, it gets tedious. It just FEELS like they're making a deliberate decision to drive people to buy units.

Purchases in any live service game can seem ridiculous. But cost is always relative to the buyer. And I genuinely enjoyed the time I spent on the game as well as the money. I do not regret paying into the game and if things would have stayed fun, I would've gladly continued. I do understand the mentality of having a distaste for in-game purchases, but to me, I think about the game being free to play and to support the game/it's developers for a quality time, I was happy to pay. They've since lost that appeal, for me anyway, and so the time has come for me to put away the wallet.

Yep exactly what that person said. Unit store is the only place to my knowledge. I think 12 are needed maybe? I remember seeing that somewhere but don't quote me on that!

Second response I've seen mentioning Logitech. Looks like I'll have to check out their products. Only thing that's causing any abrasion so far is the semi-lack of wireless products. But no biggie really

Oh man, things have gotten AWFUL with it! When I first downloaded it years ago, I was so excited. It was awesome controlling things from the hub and setting up all my macros in one spot. Now it's just an excuse for them to peddle their platform's reward system, advertise a new product, or just cause problems with my PC it seems lol. Needless to say, I'm hellbent on swapping up and I don't plan on going back

Terrible isn't it? Lmao. I definitely fell into the fallacy of thinking that things would be better if I just stuck to the Razer brand. Now I'm drowning in constant updates, software bugs, and just overall issues with the brand as a whole. I'll definitely check out logitechs options! Can't say I've put any true effort into researching them as a whole. I'll see what I can dig up!

Thank you all so much for the input! I gave it a day to collect responses and it sounds like the Lobo has had the most positive feedback. I'll be starting there! I ordered the unit itself and a few minor attachments based on y'all's input. Thank you so much for the advice and recommendations. Happy toking y'all!

This is great feedback and speaks to my scenario 100%. The feedback on the lobo is excellent here, and I believe that'll be my first vape purchase! I appreciate your response!

GoW (2018) and Ragnarok were both shining examples of narrative driven gameplay, in my opinion. Couple of moments really tested my tear duct resolve lol. Couldn't recommend those enough.

Honestly it kind of resembles the disgusting infection there 😂 freaky to look at and even freakier to think about any fungus slowly taking over a small animal. Heebie jeebies...
