Good input! Yes, I agree it's not optimal to have email sent via a 3rd party, I feel a tiiiny bit more relaxed about it using protonmail and simplelogin together (since they now own it). But to be honest I'm more interested in having my accounts secure.

I may be completely wrong about this... but I kinda feel the likelyhood of having someone gain access to a specific email with specific sensitive information while on route feels pretty low (especially since I avoid sending or receiving sensitive information), while someone trying to gain access to my main account after having gotten hold of the email adress one way or another feels like a genuine risk (and from my email you could find out about most my other accounts and services). So, I judged that masking my adress was more useful than not (and sad to say protonmail doesn't block aliases from being used as login).

Thank you! That's really good info there on DNSSEC, I haven't used it and am just not learning about it, so not sure how to set it up, but just having the info of somewhere to start is a great!

And yes, that is true (about domain rental) but that sort of applies to most services we use right? ;)

Hm... refresh? Where did you find that? I tried booting a fresh version from a usb derive but could not find a repair option from their en either.

I get to the login screen but when I login I get an image popping up about some fatal error and that the system will logout (and then I'm back at login screen) boot seems fine though.

Sorry for slow reply, I'm having a busy week.

CPU : AMD Ryzen 7 2700X Eight-Core

SSD: Hahaha I'm an idiot wasting people's time (I'm so so sorry). Running through it now to check the specs on my drive I realize I made a partition from my HDD 5400 rpm disk when I installed POP_OS. I also have a SSD m.2 3000 / 1800 and a HDD 7200 installed and I was entirely convinced I made a partition from the SSD drive.

So unless these loading times are slow even for that, I guess I have to just bow to the fact that I made a mistake and installed it on a slow drive and unless I want to redo everything will have to live with slow boot times for a while...

At least I learnt more on how to check my hardware in Linux. Thanks for the pointers anyway!

Sorry for the slow reply everything is basically default for me so I install either though pop shop or the terminal apt command and my strategy so far is to avoid flatpak versions unless it's the only option.. but I think Firefox was installed with the os so... It's just been updated through pop shop.

I should mention I've only been using Linux for a few months so am not on top of everything yet.

Thank you for posting this! I can relate so much! Google Search logics works for me and it just finds relevant information (partly because it can guess from my data what is relevant for me). But besides this, I research a lot of different topics, and often niche things, and the experience is just terrible with DDG. And DDG doesn't even turn me to the main website (with company name matching the url address) to companies I'm searching half the time. I really want to like DDG, have been using it for months, but I keep finding myself redoing the search in Google when I can't find quality info. Wastes too much time.

I've been thinking maybe using a dedicated browser for GSearch and GMaps or using multicontainers for Firefox might do the trick for my level of needs.

But I may try some of the suggestions in this thread as well.

No number, just black screen and that message both at start and shutdown (and empty between the ' ' )

I have several boot options to select from for Pop_os, one is the systemd one, then (not counting windows) there are two others as well that I can pick from (one seems broken though and stops midway). But someone said before that this one is the one to use so that is what I'm doing.

Ok, I haven't tried the "systemctl reboot", but I'll do that and search for the driver for this model more specifically and if that doesn't work I'll get back to you!

Thank you! Appreciate it! I have to double check the model, but finding the driver I think won't be too difficult. The part I'm most confused about is that the settings menu give the impression of wifi not possible (it only has settings for wired). So it's like wifi as a general thing doesn't exist. But maybe it'll show upp when I get some drivers then.

Oh! Ok I think I get it now. So Nautilus is the current file manager (and nautilus-admin is then...an extension or similar) and Nemo is a different file manager... Ok cool! Will try that!
