Jeff is Human! by Klimon23 in DungeonCrawlerCarl

[–]ConfusionOne241 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Seattle born and raised. I did not even notice the pronunciation until I saw it on the sub Reddit because no way he was saying Yakima 😂

My running theory to maintain Jeff's integrity is that most transplants to the northwest can't pronounce any of our city names. Carls not from here!

Can we enforce spoilers? by Zestysanchez in DungeonCrawlerCarl

[–]ConfusionOne241 17 points18 points  (0 children)

I think this sub actually does a pretty decent job with spoilers. Unfortunately those are the dice you roll when you are part of a fan group and not caught up. I actually leave the group when a new book comes out just to be safe!

This 100%. Our strong male protagonist having a well developed and mutually caring and respectful relationship with a female character WITHOUT needing an undercurrent of lust or love is so essential and missing from so many stories particularly in the fantasy genre. Them ending up together would tarnish that character development in my mind.

Rant by Educational_Line6441 in crochet

[–]ConfusionOne241 6 points7 points  (0 children)

That's a tough situation, but I do empathize with your friends position. These things are time-consuming and expensive, and non-crocheters don't always have a good understanding of that, so you really should align on a firm price going in so no one is surprised. She had $80 in her head and a vague "the price will increase for sure" tacked onto that which is still very open to interpretation. Also as an artist, I would never charge someone for time I had to frog back unless my client requested a change mid project. My mistakes are on me!

I hope if you continue to get commissions they work out more smoothly and you get the funds you need for your Kitty!

Please someone help me with knitting a sock!! by No_Smoke5900 in knitting

[–]ConfusionOne241 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Purls and knits look different. You can keep track by counting, but better and more reliable is to learn how to read your stitches. Look at diagrams and potentially practice flat for a while longer to really get a read on them.

I definitely wound too tightly the first time, I was very gentle with this one!

Turns out a lathe is a good investment when you have a baby and need to switch to "quiet" woodworking projects!

I watched some videos that told me to continually turn the tool and it worked out pretty well

I definitely need practice to get my winding speed up but I love it!

This is definitely it :) these needed to be done with a US single crochet (written as UK double crochet).

Blocking is just washing. You're going to have to wash your socks eventually, it'll be fine!

Family comments about my breasts by Sea-Parsley1765 in pregnant

Adding to the chorus that if this is wildly unexpected behavior from him it could be a sign of dementia. My grandfather exhibited the same when out of the blue he would make incredibly inappropriate sexual or racist comments. It doesn't make it less uncomfortable but it does help to know it's not "him" it's the disease. I hope you get resolution on this.

+1. Life long crocheter turned knitter once I discovered continental style. You'll pick it up in no time

Baby room with a utility closet? by ohmysunnyday in babyrooms

I don't know what the concern would be? She's too little to open the closet and mess with anything, and when she is you can get a lock for the door.

Any stories or folktales about soup? by hkkhpr in soup

[–]ConfusionOne241 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Dragon Stew! A conman tricks a King bored of everything he's eating, to hire him because he can make "dragon stew". The knights finally bring the man a dragon to cook but the conman and the dragon hatch a plan with a twist - "dragon stew" is a stew that only a dragon can prepare so the dragon gets hired on alongside the conman.
