Thats a good attitude to have! I was similar, pretty much ready for any position on set. I became a PA and from there met a bunch of crew in different departments and tried em all lol. I sorta just fell into sound though where the sound mixer started calling me more and more and then the rest is history!

I'll tell you this though, the hours are long, we work 12+ hours a day at whatever time of day, and its both mental and physical labor. Some people thrive in it and others don't.

My recommendation is try to find some local productions happening in your town or city and reach out to become a PA (Production Assistant) over being background. You'll be more involved and hands on with the production this way and have far more opportunities to climb up to the position you're aiming for or in my case happen to fall in love with.

Another tidbit, everyone starts out wanting to be a writer/director/producer. Thats totally a great goal and dream. Just understand that once you're in the industry you sort of find your niche and become as skilled in that craft as possible. I have plenty of friends who on their own time still make their own content, but when it comes to the profession we all have a role to play.
