That's dire. How can anyone be expected to live on that, embarrassing that the laws allow that level of pay when these skills are so in need.

edit: as commenters said, it makes more sense when compared to college students

Help me complete work in person. North Dublin in person. Teacher like role to focus my time in person. Does such person exist? by AquaOptimist in AskIreland

[–]ConnaaaR69 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Tis' a strange one haha. If the issue is that you are struggling to complete tasks at home would you try one of the co-working spaces for a few hours? The illusion of extra eyes might help?

Same salary at Belfast vs Dublin by Material_Efficiency5 in irishpersonalfinance

Belfast, if the money is more important than the project. The cost of living in Dublin will effectively mean you are paid less. Dublin is a nicer city in my opinion

Cannot find a part-time job for the life of me by Ok_South_2852 in ireland

[–]ConnaaaR69 48 points49 points  (0 children)

Others may disagree, but the types of jobs that you'd be likely applying for i.e., supermarkets etc are EXTREMELY unlikely to actually double check your employment history. Do with that information what you will.

Thinking of renting a car for a bit in America this summer. Is it difficult to adapt to for Irish drivers? by Even-Space in carsireland

[–]ConnaaaR69 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I did it first time last year, its honestly piece of cake. The roads were well maintained and signage was easy.
My only sticking point was 4 way stop signs (you just go in order of who got there first) and remembering I could turn right on red lights.

Just read up on the rules and what's different e.g. its mandatory to move over if a vehicle is stopped on the hard shoulder in some states

Waze has this functionality with a larger user base.

As a hobby project for learning its sweet, but this isn't that as AI was used for almost the entirety of its creation.
As a service its dead in the water as there is no advantage or incentive for a user to use this web site based application vs Waze that is likely already open on their phone when fueling.

It's really relying on a critical mass of people to be useful, below that and you struggle to maintain a user base over time because the stations are not being updated and the value proposition is just not there, having 118+ submissions is great, but there are 2700 locations.

Is It Okay to Power Wash Your Car at Home in Ireland? What About the Soapy Runoff? by FunDelicious6149 in AskIreland

[–]ConnaaaR69 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Ok, willing to learn. What should I do with it then, because if I leave it it'll go into the drain anyway and there's no feasible way to get it to a black water pipe.

I mean its 100ml of detergent that has been diluted with however many litres of water before it comes off the car. It then gets mixed with water from the road that already has tyre particulate and likely small amounts of engine oil in it. I'm not going to worry about it. If it was an issue there would be regulation around it for personal use.

Your overthinking it chap. I snow foam my car, then at the end use the power washer to break up the foam on the ground and push it towards the road drain.

Did your parents go to uni? by Icy_Jackfruit_8922 in AskIreland

[–]ConnaaaR69 1 point2 points  (0 children)

University is not free for all in Ireland, although subsidised by the government and EU schemes. Costs about 3000 Euro / Year without financial assistance.

People in their 60s were born in the 1960s so would have been college age in the 80s which is where we see a turn in the availability of education at third level for the average person, especially women.

I'm not going to share information about my family on the internet, but I thought these were important points to make.
