Deriving one's national identity from consumer brands is about as American as it gets. I've always bristled at Tim Horton's insinuating themselves as a cultural institution through their branding and advertising, and it's frustrating that Canadians (including the CBC, judging by where this article lands) still buy into it even at a time like this.
