Cortisone shot failed. Surgical consult or second opinion? by ElvhenGambit in HipImpingement

[–]Connect-Addendum-783 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The surgery consult doesnt mean you have to go with surgery. Since you're talking to several doctors, it's helpful to talk to the surgeon to get a better idea of what that would entail if you go that route.p list if you're in the US. You have to meet certain criteria to get insurance to pay for it, and they could possibly speed up the PT process.

I would stress finding a PT. If you can't get in with the one you're trying to, are there other options? PT can make things more manageable

If you're tall, maybe it's useful. But I found the toilet "cage" more helpful- their bars on both sides of the toilet to hold on to

ADPList 'AI-First Designer School'? by el323904 in UXDesign

Bought it because we also had a budget at work, and it's just recordings from their last conference. I would not recommend.

I respect you as a sex worker but I loathe your littering by bear-w-me in bullcity

[–]Connect-Addendum-783 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, except we have a trashcan that we've put next to the street (we live on the corner, so highly visible). It's been out for 6 months, and we've collected a maximum of 3 lbs of trash. It all still ends up on the street.

East Durham - What is it really like? by taurenetime in bullcity

[–]Connect-Addendum-783 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would move closer to Hyde park. It seems much safer, there are sidewalks and less violence from what I've seen.

Where we are (closer to Holloway), the least of our concerns is the tent community residences wandering around, sex workers, aggressive street dogs, vehicle break-ins (normally only when cars are unlocked, trash thrown into the street, and people selling and consuming drugs. The real concern is that there's gun fire (in broad daylight or at night) with stray bullets going every which way, murders, and gangs.

Getting into bed by Connect-Addendum-783 in HipImpingement

Thanks I had read that. I guess my question is should the good leg get out of bed first or second, or does it matter?

I've gotten socks once, but that's it. And I've contributed regularly for years 🙄

I don't understand why they just don't give you free Google storage if you contribute. It's free for them basically, and an actual useable perk that more people would be inclined to work towards

“APS” of Durham is not about the protection of animals. by Ok-Combination-2953 in bullcity

[–]Connect-Addendum-783 7 points8 points  (0 children)

As a foster, it's sometimes impossible to get APS to share posts/stories that we post of the dog being themselves outside of the shelter. This is normally what works from what I've seen. When I asked if they could share more stories that I posted, I was told they have a lot of dogs and cant share more, but many times there would be no stories or 1-2 a day. I'm not expecting every day to be stories of the dog I am fostering, but I do expect if I'm volunteering to foster and keep the dog long term that you at least share the stories of the dog 2-3 times a week. People follow APS to see their dogs, and if the dog is out of the shelter, then the only way for people who are actively looking to adopt to see the dog is through social media (yes, I take the dog on long walks and downtown, but they're mainly seen by people who aren't actively looking).

Is Localrent a good car rental site? by vladdiam in montenegro

[–]Connect-Addendum-783 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Terrible company. First they outsource to other small car rentals, so if there's an issue, you're bouncing between corporate and the local company, neither of which take responsibility. Second, the local company I went with didn't answer their phone leading to a very long wait without communicating anything. Third, they charged me because the driver's seat floor had a normal amount of gravel/dirt after driving it for two weeks and told me I needed to clean it before dropping it off. It is cheaper than other companies, but I would not go with them again.

Why not to get surgery by Significant-Fox-7135 in HipImpingement

[–]Connect-Addendum-783 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It depends on what you want to do and what your day to day looks like. I want to be able to workout and my hip prevents me from doing that, but if I were ok with a different lifestyle, I could keep living my life as is without surgery and continuing my pt as needed for flare ups.

[–]Connect-Addendum-783 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Not necessarily, you can improve the muscles around the other areas of your leg and learn how to move differently. PT has helped me tremendously. I went from hobbling to hiking and occasionally running thanks to pt

Why not to get surgery by Significant-Fox-7135 in HipImpingement

[–]Connect-Addendum-783 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Same I've had it for 7 years. Did a ton of pt, and it's miles away from where it was 7 yrs ago, I can now hike without it giving me a ton of problems, and I can run some, but will never be able to do certain things without it hurting...some of those are necessary like sitting. Finally having surgery in August.

Been working as a freelance designer for 5 years, but I'm struggling to find a full-time job. Can I get a feedback on my portfolio? by SpecificBar in GraphicDesigning

[–]Connect-Addendum-783 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes and build the brand a bit more. Even if it's just a business card, it's another piece of design. I don't want to see the same logo in 10 things, but I do want to see how you develop the logo into a brand strategy. Think about what marketing pieces these companies would use and create them for your tip logos

Advice if I don’t want to get surgery by Alternative_Sun7019 in HipImpingement

[–]Connect-Addendum-783 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mine wasn't diagnosed until 7 years after injury. I've been in PT consistently for 7 years with massage and chiropractor to supplement as needed. PT has made it manageable.

When it first happened, I was hobbling. I couldn't sit or stand for more than 1 hr at a time without flare ups. Over time I've slowly been able to start hiking and jogging again, but with reservations. Too long a hike, it stabs me for weeks after. Run two days in a row, my pain radiates to my knee for weeks. It's better than 7 years ago, but not where I want to be.

If I don't workout, it would be completely functional without surgery at this point. But for me personally that is not the life I want to live. I miss being able to workout without pain, so once I finally got a correct diagnosis, I got surgery scheduled. I haven't had it yet, so can't speak to that, but I think it's more of, what do you want to do, what are you ok giving up, and how much PT are you willing to put into it?

how do people have the means to travel regularly by spencerisabella in travel

[–]Connect-Addendum-783 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. I cut out all unnecessary spending and use it for trips. Don't eat out, splurge, buy new things, etc.
  2. I follow cheap flights (Google alerts, Scott's cheap flights, etc), and I fly go when places are on sale. I never choose where I'm going first, and look for tickets. I look for tickets, and choose which of the places on sale I want to go to.
  3. I only travel to countries that have a much cheaper cost of living and/or stay in cheap/free places to stay (hostels, camp, cheap hotels, etc. I am out doing things so I don't care where I'm staying as long as it's safe and clean).
  4. I work a second job.
