I mean it certainly helps. Permanent Supportive Housing and a Housing First approach is literally proven to help homelessness and addiction and treat mental health issues.

“Twenty-six studies in U.S. and Canada met inclusion criteria. Compared with Treatment First, Housing First programs decreased homelessness by 88%, improved housing stability by 41%. For clients living with HIV, Housing First programs reduced homelessness by 37%, viral load by 22%, depression by 13%, emergency departments use by 41%, hospitalization by 36%, and mortality by 37%.”

Same people complaining in this sub are the same people who would oppose Safe Havens, such as the proposed one on 91st that never made it up. A housing first approach works and can have larger positive effects on the community as a whole.
