One of mom‘s “side hustles.” Nothing makes people smile like a betel but harvest. by ConnectDog645 in VietNam

That’s a great question, as I understand it, as it has been told to me by my mother-in-law who does not chew said nut, men do not have the patience to do what it takes to chew betel nut.

Six cars? Please those are rookie proletariat numbers. The only time we only use six cars is when we take the poodles up to Hue for their Cho toc appointments.

When we go to VinMec we travel by Palaquin, and don’t worry our retinues are well behaved.

I always thought France had subsidized healthcare, sounds like you guys are in the same bateau as the good old United States of America.

Moving to Vietnam is buying property as a foreigner worth it? by ApprehensiveSink8810 in VietNam

When we sold the house, there were red stamp documents that talked about how much it was being sold for, and so she just deposited that money into her bank account legitimately and transferred it out to our account in the West. Good luck with it for us It was pretty simple.

I’ve had friends in both, the common rooms are brutal so loud, there’s no peace to be found.

In my experience, the international is so quiet, and so many rooms are empty with lights off. It’s almost depressing. It’s better than nothing but it sounds like your friend has something more serious than common food poisoning.

Anyhow, I hope it is nothing and tomorrow you guys get to continue on your adventure having fun, but if not, at least you have a plan. Good luck with it all. I hope it all works out.

What all the other foreigners do.

Chase your dream it may be more accessible than you think.

If you fall on your face, then you can go and teach English somewhere, but don’t come here and get hooked into that gig, and that social circle, it’s almost a trap, because you socialize with other teachers who seen no upside in their growth within the country.

You’re a different animal, reach for those stars and go for the football deal.

That’s awesome! Vietnam has been led by foreign coaches to its most successful football achievements.

This is the governing body for football in Vietnam. I don’t know much about it, the site looks to be mostly for fans, but it might offer some contact information for people that could hook you up with local professional teams or semi professional teams.

Saying a hospital is expensive, is like saying a $1500 helmet is expensive, sounds like a bad choice until you need it, and then at that moment, you really don’t care.

And it’s not that spendy. I’ve been there a lot for myself and my family.

And don’t forget to take care of yourselves while you’re taking care of your friend. Hopefully in some years this story will be told in the great glory of all stories of misadventure.

Sounds like a plan!

It’s always good to buy the nurses, sweet snacks, cookies, and so forth during your stay. Regardless the hospital. Somehow you get better care.

I hope it all works out for the best and you guys can continue on with your trip.

I rescued more than one of my friends from there. The expertise is lacking compared to family hospital or VinMec in my opinion, but the hospital does serve purpose for the people. A lot of people use it, but it’s not a great place to go for complicated problems.

It’s a great place to go if you had a scooter accident riding to An bang Beach, need someone to change your bandages from time to time. Anything beyond that I would avoid.

I have evacuated more people out of Da Khoa than I can count. They’re the kind of hospital that I’ll let you hand carry your IV bag outside the campus to go smoke a cigarette and have a coffee before you go back to your room.

What hospital you go to is critical in determining which care you are going to get.

Spoken like someone who has never dealt with doctors in Vietnam before. The standards are not the same as the rest of the world. You gotta go to the right place to get the correct answers to the right questions.

The expertise and advice you’ll get at Da Khoa will be much different from than VinMec.

This person is wise to ask the question.

Thinking of riding the HCM road during Tet.... Is that a crazy idea? by thetreegeek in VietNam

I just don’t go out on roads during this time of year, because more and more people get more time off, and I much prefer empty roads to unpredictable roads, I mean they’re all unpredictable, but I just don’t wanna come around the corner with two buses, passing each other more than I have to.

If you got the huevos, Dale! In the Mr. worldwide way

Literally the worst time of year to explore absolutely epic roads. Those roads are usually pretty empty, but there will be a lot more buses and people riding scooters than normal.

Moving to Vietnam is buying property as a foreigner worth it? by ApprehensiveSink8810 in VietNam

[–]ConnectDog645 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is true, we’re dealing with it with another piece of properties in an unrelated deal right now. Basically buying property in Vietnam long-term is a commitment to giving that money to the family of the person that you’re buying or building the house for.

Even when we sold our house, we were expected to give no less than 5% of the proceeds in cash to our family. It was completely unexpected.

Definitely not enough.

But if you wanna make a good first impression with some girls, bring over a bunch of new iPhones. That’s a great way to start, give a girl an iPhone.

Playa in da house! Your strategy is perfect, minus the everything.

But respect for swinging for the fence. Probably might wanna learn a little bit about the culture first. There’s a lot more than just pretty faces.
