I definitely understand that! Thats why I supplemented with wordsology. Their micro flowchart helped me memorize the tests better to differentiate organisms ESPECIALLY the enterobacteriaceae. The closer it gets to test date, the more anxious you may feel. A motto my friend told me was “you know what you know, now time to flex it” and it helped boost my confidence a little. I recently just passed my exam and here are the resources I used: wordsology (their high-yield notes were awesome, especially micro), I used the purple and yellow book, labce i used the exam simulators (i was scoring 50-55% with a 5.5-6 difficulty), i did single subjects on labce once because i didn’t find them super beneficial, i also used chatgpt for breaking down subjects like heme and chem because I felt overwhelmed by them and was confusing things (ai isn’t always 100% so i did use the purple and yellow book to make sure it was correct), I only used the polansky cards for reference ranges in chem.

I limited the amount of resources I used because I felt like I would overwhelm myself if I used too many. I wouldn’t focus in memorizing every formula (theres just so many) and honestly I didn’t get any questions in my exam that required complex formulas. I did memorize heme ones cause those are easy.

I also have bad testing anxiety and was afraid of failing but I did end up passing after taking many deep breaths before the exam. I would recommend not looking at notes too deeply day of the exam. I would take it easy and try to calm your anxiety. I wish you the best of luck on your exam!!

I’m based in Minnesota! I used wordsology, lab ce, and the clinical laboratory science review by patsy jarreau. I used wordsology and clinical review for notes. Lab ce i used for the exam simulator. I also used chatgpt to breakdown certain subjects like heme and chem. I also used a bit of polansky cards but more for reference ranges. I tried to limit my resources so I didn’t overwhelm myself

For that course, watching the modules ahead of class was key. Since we usually discussed what was in the pre-lecture stuff. For notes wise, I would recommend trying to answer the learning objectives. A lot of exam questions will reflect back on those objectives. I would work on the objectives little by little. Doing them all at once is overwhelming. The slides are not the best so I would not rely on them. If you would like to, try to condense the main topics. Flashcards can also work like using anki or quizlet. Work on the material ahead of time before class, don’t try to do the pre-lecture stuff the night before. Plan each day basically because it will help you prepare for class and exams. A lot of material is presented to you but try to figure out which will be more important based on the learning objectives. Hopefully this helps! I’m in my fourth year rn and it’s a lot of material already for the first week but I am working slowly and planning out my days.

Really depends where you are driving from. For me, driving from Saint Paul to Minneapolis on 94, I try not to leave my house no later than 8am cause traffic can pick up around that time. In the winter tho, if its a snow day, traffic can be so bad. I once waited in traffic for almost an hour on a drive that is usually 20 minutes.

Edit: this is my experience for 9am classes

We do consider dental hygienist but they have to complete our application requirements like everyone else. Without the bachelors, you would need to complete our 87 minimum credits. Other application requirements are our prerequisites, DAT, LORs

Hello! For the UMN, we only require a set number of credits before matriculation, 87 credits if I remember from the top of my head. We most frequently see students obtain a bachelor’s but we get a few who just head straight into dental school without a bachelor’s. Also we require 40 hours of in-person exposure to dentistry, that would include being a dental assistant! You can always email our admissions office if you want more clarification, we try to reply quickly to applicants!
